Hi just need to rant a little I think 🤣

Since bloody Julia Bradbury has been on tv saying about diet and exercise helps endo that’s literally all I have heard from my mum from my partners mum and even my partner.

How can I exercise when I can hardly get out of bed?! And yeah I might want a cake or some chocolate so what?!

Like that’s always what I get lose weight it will help, feel like starving myself down to a size 6 then being like yep still in pain can I eat now?! 🤣

Hey people have no idea do they, they don’t feel our pain physically and mentally. Just ignore the comments 😀

Hi Xroisinellen, Well, I'm not going to google up Julia Bradbury, because that kind of advice would just make me want to hit someone with a cold, wet fish. ;)

Yeah, exercise isn't what a person needs when step 1 is to hoist oneself out of bed, ideally with a remedy pack of a variety of things to feel better (and not will power alone - assisted willpower is better).

So sorry you’re experiencing this, I didn’t see the show. It might work for her, that’s the same with anything.Trust me that weight loss is not all it’s cracked up to be. Enjoying chocolate is not to be missed 🙂

One size doesn't fit all! I used to keep very fit, back and forth to the gym, running, plus other exercise, but eventually I found that exercise caused me a lot of problems, from feeling like I was passing out to making me bleed. I find walking good exercise now and a good way to get some Vitamin D, though I often struggle getting the energy to do that, but always glad when I am able even if it's just a 10 minute walk. I also have chronic fatigue and I remember consultants telling me to go to the gym. It was absurd- getting up and ready and to the gym would have been all I had, no strength for the gym itself. Sadly, chocolate cake and sweet stuff is full of sugar which is inflammatory so will make things worse. I know, bla!! I tend to go for a bit of 70% dark chocolate now (organic if I can) as it's got good antioxidants. I used to be a big one for sweet stuff and can relapse, but I do find eating plenty of salads and veggies, fish, chicken etc and drinking enough water... really does help with a load of symptoms. It took a while, but it can make you feel better. It's rubbish when you're feeling so rough though and not heard. I struggle with those kind of things too. People latch on to things and wax lyrical about whatever, but you're the one having to deal with the physical and mental fatigue from the pain and other symptoms. I do hope you know that you are valuable as a person and I hope that you get some relief soon. Be kind to you x

I'm thoroughly sick of Julia Bradbury going on her long walks etc while telling all and sundry she has endometriosis. Celebrities can do so much damage. They've not got the same type of endometriosis I've got for sure. There must be different types of this illness obviously although this is not made clear in these items on TV and magazines. I'm sorry your relatives aren't getting that. You need empathy. Take care of yourself and do what your body says. The more I push anything physically, the more I just suffer and it's always been like this. XX

That's like when people ask, is endo pain like period pain. They have no clue, you don't unless you've lived it. A good diet might help but it isn't going to stop the pain. You might need to put people straight and educate them

ps to previous reply Don't know if you've considered trying the low fodmap diet but it's helped me a lot. So called 'healthy' food isn't always ideal if you have bowel endometriosis. It helped me sort out what upset me and what I can tolerate. A lot of the generalised healthy eating advice isn't suitable at all for me and I'd be crippled in pain. My endometriosis specialist is very supportive of this diet.

Also I have dark chocolate every day, it's actually good for you in small amounts.

Completely understand your frustrations lovely! My mums attitude is very much that all of my issues are because I’ve put weight on in the past few years going from a size 10 to a 16. I used to exercise a lot but then as the pain got worse and isn’t just when it’s my period I couldn’t do what I used to and put weight on. Now I’m grateful if I manage to go a walk everyday! X

I need painkillers to get out of bed never mind exercise if I walk the pain gets worse going down my legs and I used to walk for miles now I can't walk for 10 minutes without it getting worse, stay strong and grit your teeth 😔 xx

Hi. Totally understand your frustration. There are exercises that I can do and others that I can't. There are days when I can exercise and other days when I can't; the only problem is that I realise that I should not have exercised when I am in pain following the exercise! :( In terms of endo on bowels, I had no choice but to stop eating quite a lot of food, it was not a choice, I was viewing food as a poison because they were causing me so much pain and I was emptying myself every time I ate! It was a nightmare and it was embarrassing, notwithstanding the pain and feeling drained all the time! I ended up having my manager following me to the loo! she thought I was playing on my phone: I showed her that I had nothing in my hands and my phone was on my desk! In terms of chocolate, I buy the vegan chocolate, although I am not vegan, mainly because chocolate contains dairy and soya which are very rich in oestrogen, gave me stomachaches, diarrhoea, emptying myself. The same applies to gluten and also caffeine (I have decaff coffee) and I have coconut milk that is antiinflammatory. Normal food gave me burning pains during the day and would keep me awake at night. I am on an exclusion diet, but not to lose weight, mainly to lose the constant suffering, the acute pain, feeling drained all the time, keeping my job (which I still lost anyway for different reasons!)We are all different! and no one should judge until they have experienced this type of pain.

What has finally helped me the most has been 2 surgeries: 1 lap for endo on bowels, ureter, uterine cavity, and 1 colonoscopy where hemorragic colities were found, in simpler terms I had 3 holes in my bowels more than likely caused by inflammation and endometriosis that caused these burning pains and also cyclical rectal bleeding that could be heavy at times, so more anaemia which means extra tiredness on top of everything else.

These surgeries are only a few months old. I am still respecting my diet because I am so scared to be in pain again. I still react to food because the bowels get inflammed very quickly, so I have no choice but to stick to this diet, which is a pain because I can't always have the same food as everyone. But, if it keeps the pain away and lead a normal life, then so be it!

You have to do what fits yourself and reduce the pain. I would always try to be mobile when not in pain and I gave myself an objective each day, but some days the level of tiredness was huge, then I would not beat myself up as there is always another day. Keep your spirit up is possibly your best remedy at the moment and ignore if you can, I know its not easy, their stupid comments.
