GP surgery not scheduling my Zoladex injection

I was on Zoladex for three months in 2017 and I had a private gynaecology appointment recently and the consultant said that I need to have Zoladex again for four months. I have been ringing my GP surgery for the last two weeks and every time I do they keep saying there are no slots and to ring again on a certain day. When I ring back on the specified day they say the same thing. Has anyone experienced anything similar?

Hi

Your surgery website should have an econsult form, I find it’s best to use that, it’s in writing and they can’t fob you off.

You could also explain this keeps happening when you call in and if they just repeat it ask to speak to the manager. It’s ridiculous to keep being treated that way.

Good luck 🤞🙂

That is a good idea, I couldn't find that sort of form on the surgery website but I will have another look and if not I will just ring next week and ask to speak to the manager. Last time I went on Zoladex, I had a difficult time as my GP wanted me to get another letter from my gynaecologist. I don't know why it has to be so complicated.

Thank you, hopefully I will have more success next week!

The GP can request info from the consultant if need be. The form might be called something else, they are all supposed to have one.

If you get stuck you can pm me the surgery if you want to.

It shouldn’t be complicated at all, but everything in the health industry seems to be that way.

My GP flat out refused :( Said because I’m now having private treatment, it should be administered by the private clinic’s nurses. For this reason, my private clinic prescribed Prostap instead which I was able to perform myself.

It’s really frustrating when GP’s can’t be helpful.

Hoping you can sort it out soon!

Oh goodness, that is not acceptable. I have been waiting for an NHS appointment for almost a year and if I hadn't gone privately then things would just keep getting worse. We shouldn't be penalised for accessing the care we need. Glad that you are finally having treatment!

Your GP is wrong, private and NHS can overlap.I’d had a private follow up following lap, also private, he wrote to GP to start Zoladex and there was no issue.

How annoying! I think I must have a very difficult (read shitty) GP :(

I’d be inclined to say ignorant or don’t want to break into their budget, theatre comes under shitty though. They’ll have a whole new one now 🤣
