Can adenomyosis hurt all the time?

So I’ve been diagnosed with adenomyosis. I’ve always had bad periods but since November the pain is intense and it’s all the time. It got so bad that I couldn’t walk. Now I’m on nerve blockers it is slightly easier, but every evening I’m in so much pain, and when I turn in my sleep it wakes me up with the pain. I’m just wondering if anyone else has this? As I’m 37, the gynaecologist doesn’t seem very keen to give me a hysterectomy, but I’ve had kids and I’m happy with my family so I don’t understand why they’re being that way, especially as my life is currently ruined. Any help would be appreciated x

Totally understand how you feel, I was asking for hysterectomy from the age of 35 and now I'm 47 I'm finally getting one. Unfortunately because I've been left so long my endo has progressed over the years and affected my bowels. I'll be looking at bowel surgery along with hysterectomy now!!I never wanted children and they used that as an excuse not to give me a hysterectomy. Consultant recently told me, if it effects the quality of your life then you should just keep pushing for a hysterectomy, why should you wait for things to get worse.

Keep pushing for what you want, I really wished I had.

Can you get any stronger pain relief?

xx

Thanks for replying, that’s so shocking that you’ve had to wait so long and now it’s even worse than it could’ve been if you’d just been given the help. I’m going to see a private consultant next week and see if she’ll do it since I’ll be paying for it. It feels like they’d rather I just constantly be on meds for the next 15 years until I go through the menopause. I’m already on codine, naproxen, amnitriptyline and paracetamol. I can’t work because of the pain. Xx

Good look with private consultant, we really shouldn't have to pay for the treatment we deserve. I hope you can get things sorted out much quicker and get back to normalxx

Thank you, I really can’t afford it, but I’m losing so much money by not working full time, in my head it makes sense to spend some now to be able to earn more when it’s done. I just hope she agrees to do the surgery. I’m worried because like you say they’re reluctant to give them xx

Totally understand, I haven't been able to work for over two years now, and all funds have well and truly dried up!!!!Just explain how much its effecting your quality of life. If it was cancer they wouldn't think twice about giving you a hysterectomy, so it can be done. You just need to make sure any other endometriosis will be removed at the same time by someone who is properly trained to do it.
