Hi, I'm on the journey of finding out what is causing me my pain as my GP suspects endometriosis. I have my first gynecology appointment tomorrow and wondered what I can expect and what tips do you have? So far I've written down my symptoms and treatment I've had so far at the hospital but is there anything else I need to do? Quite nervous as I don't want to he fobbed off as I've heard some doctors can be like that. Thank you

Hi good luck for tomorrow. At my first ever gynaecology appointment I got an internal scan first, then saw the consultant who decided due to having a chocolate cyst on ovary and seeing me in a lot of pain during the scan as well as my symptoms that I would be put on the list for a laparoscopy. That’s great you have written everything down so you won’t forget anything plus they can see exactly what’s been going on. Remember it’s your body and sometimes you need to push for further treatment, let us know how you get on x
Have you checked out the endo uk site, invaluable info on handling consultations.I had no idea of getting endo as a diagnosis, I’d written down history and symptoms and gave them to the consultant to read. Even though it was private (desperate times called for desperate measures 😂) he could see how many tests I’d had for uti, bloods.
Don’t be fobbed of with anything you don’t want. If you want to know why they are suggesting something do ask why. I think these days they get into a habit of a set route but forget about the patient.
Good luck, let us know how it goes 🙂
I have checked the website which was useful, I think I'm just getting myself worked up because I want to know why I'm in so much pain I have written down my symptoms and what treatment I've had for them to read. It's all a bit overwhelming doing it on your own, not being able to have someone with you due to Covid. Thank you and I hope I can get some answers
