Zoladex and endometriosis.

Hi , I had my first Zoladex injection on 23rd February and I’m due my second next week. I began having a severe flare up of my endo around week two. I ended up vomiting quite a bit and being admitted to hospital. Gynaecologist in hospital explained I had severe flare up of pain and severely dehydrated. He believes it was the injection ‘beginning to work’.

Transvaginal ultrasound came back clear, however, on all my scans can’t seem to see left ovary.

Abdominal ultrasound also clear. Both scans no cysts or signs of endometriosis.

I am still awaiting a diagnostic laparoscopy.

Has anyone else had this experience ? I’m also frightened of them not finding any endometriosis during surgery after suffering from heavy periods and pain since I was 13 I’m not 24. Reassurance needed and advice.

Hi , I am new on here but I had my first injection and ended up the same having emergency pain relief by out of hours . I could not walk with the pain I was getting and worst than I had in a long time . I am 48 and have lived in gynaecologist waiting rooms and been hospitalised because of endo .I am having horrible side effects and feel is it worth it for number 2 injection? Not sure what to do as my next gynaecologist appointment is in two weeks to see what my mri results are and follow up ! Sorry I can’t really help x

Hi , Yeah apparently a bad ‘flare’ after first injection is common.

I did receive second injection and overall I am glad I did.

Since my second injection I have had nil abdominal pain and I’m back to work.

I have had other side effects which have been difficult at times.

I am having a year of injections so I will have to get used to other side effects.

I’ve never had MRI consultant gynaecologist did not feel it would have been beneficial.

Hope this helps x

Yeah that makes sense probably best discussing it with your consultant first. Mine was happy enough for me to continue on x
