Endo? Not endo?

just wanted to know if I’m going crazy or if I do actually have endo. I’ve been on the depo injection since I was 16 I’m now 31. My husband and I have decided we wanted another baby so I came off the injection nearly 2 years ago. I only started having periods 5 months ago which started fine. So then the pain started during and after intercourse, bloating to the point I look 8 months pregnant, more or less constant pelvic pain all through my cycle, all types of different pains from bowel movements, increased of blood flow to the point I just had too sit on the toilet, too painful too insert a tampon (sorry tmi), nausea, dizziness.

This happened a few years back after I had my 3rd son and they send me for a scan an they said all we can see if your right ovary is close to your uterus your fine.

Years later I’m off the injection and it’s all starting again but much more painful to the point it interferes with every day life.

Just wanted to see if anyone can relate so I know I’m not going insane🤦🏼‍♀️

Thank you

Hi StephanyP,

Ouch! It sounds like you're really sore.

When pain and discomfort are interfering with your life, it's good to speak to your GP.

An ultrasound scan from 3 years ago may be outdated now, considering that your symptoms have increased. And besides, it's my understanding that ultrasounds can show things like the presence of cysts, but not the detail of other issues.

Could you consider requesting a referral to a gynaecologist with a specialism in endometriosis from a GP?

In the meantime, something you might find useful (if you've not already read it), it the Endometriosis UK website with information about how endometriosis is diagnosed (e.g. laparoscopy), and managed (e.g. pain management, hormonal treatment, surgery).

I hope you can have a good discussion with a GP / gynaecologist to agree a plan to diagnose what is making you sore & plan to help you feel better soon. Sending you good thoughts!

Thank you for reply and for being so kind, I have another scan booked next week to see if they can find anything. I just feel like sometimes is it that or ibs and I run through so many things if and buts what it is or isn’t I drive myself insane. Just wanted too see if anyone has been diagnosed and have the same type of symptoms. I’m hoping after the scan they will refer me to gynaecology because something isn’t right. Thank you again 😘

Hi Stephany,I have endometriosis too, and I have some symptoms that are similar to yours, expressed a little differently. I've been to A&E a few times for pain that is so intense that I can't think, folding up onto the floor with nausea dizziness and pain, extreme period cramps along with heavy periods (including clotting) and fatigue, stabbing abdominal pain, heavy aching abdominal pain, shooting pain with bowel movements, really sore cases of gas, bloating belly, and probably others that don't come to mind this instant.

I think everyone's symptoms are a bit different, so it can be handy to see the overall list of symptoms common for endometriosis from the Endometriosis UK site (e.g. pain during/after sex is one of the common symptoms).

Anyhow, the advice given to me was that if pain management for use at home is not sufficient, to go and see a doctor (whether that's a GP, NHS 111 doctor, or A&E). In other words, if the pain you have is high, the NHS wants to see you to try to help you not to perish. ;)
