I had surgery last week to remove endometriosis, I’ve found it really hard to talk about but this month I’ve learnt so much more from people sharing stories.
I know recovery from a laparoscopy can vary from person to person, however I wanted to use this community to reach out and ask some questions from anyone else’s experience, if anyone would be happy to share
- Did your bleeding post op stop for a period of time before your next period arrived? - How long did your incisions take to heal? - How long did it take for your next period arrive? - how long should I leave leave my incisions covered (I’ve replaced them but not sure if I should let them heal without being covered) ? - did anyone else struggle with breathlessness after the op for a few days when walking around?
Thank you!

Hallo, did you wake up breathless after the surgery?
This happened to me a couple of times, and it calmed down after a couple of days. I think it was from the anaesthetic and/or gas that they use to “inflate” the abdominal area, for the keyhole surgery.
Yeah it was on and off for the first few days but I put it down to the gas but whilst going on short walks 6 days later i find I’m finding it more difficult than normal on my breathing than before but it might just be overdoing it. :/ thank you for your reply!
Wow, you’re walking so soon! I was still like a tortoise on its back a couple of weeks after my surgery!Yes, it does sound like you need to slow down a bit.
Hi, I know other people have said they had similar experiences after lap, but if you’re experiencing breathlessness after any surgery you should inform your GP. They should want to check you over. Hope everything settles down soon.,
