Hi ladies, me again. I’m so frustrated at the moment so I hope you’ll allow me a rant. I had yet another doctors appointment today. The GP told me that I was too young to have endometriosis and refused to refer me to gynaecology. Has anyone else experienced this? I’ve had an ultrasound referral rejected and now this. This is not new pain, I’ve been managing this for years, but the doctors are trying to palm me off with hormonal treatment to stop my ovulation when I’ve been very clear from the beginning that I didn’t want to try the hormonal route if I can avoid it. I’ve been on sertraline for a few months and I’m in the best place mentally that I have been for years, so I want to avoid any medication that might jeopardise that. So I’m now at a dead end. This is the 3rd GP I’ve spoken to who won’t take me seriously. They’re stonewalling me and won’t allow me to speak to a specialist. I’m only 19 but I’m now in a position where I’m having to battle for diagnosis, my fertility and my overall physical health. Any advice on what I should do next? I’m completely lost and I have no idea where to go from here. All the best x x x

Hello, I’ve recently found out I’m stage one endometriosis. I’m 20 years old yet the pains have been her longer then I can remember, from doctors telling me it’s all in my head or it’s just cyst and to have a baby the pain will go away , don’t listen to them you know your body and know when something doesn’t feel right. Since I was 15 I was having terrible pains that get worse over the year. You are young so they won’t take you seriously like they did to me. You just have to keep fighting and go to as many doctors as you can. With all the doctors appointments I’ve been too it took one very old doctor to help me he didn’t care what other doctors said he took his own test ran multiple blood screens ultrasounds , I even started to see him weekly until he figured it out. So please don’t give up!
Hi,
I'm sorry that your GP hasn't been very helpful. Please do keep pestering until you get someone who listens to you!
Also, have a look at the NICE Guidelines here: nice.org.uk/guidance/ng73/c....
They are guidelines that GPs are meant to follow and they basically say that if someone has the symptoms of endometriosis and the pill hasn't helped then they should be referred to a gynaecologist. It might be worth printing them off and taking them along to the GP appointment with you!
Good luck xx
