Has anyone had a clinical diagnosis; not been diagnosed through a lap? I have had various tests over the years and nothing has been found so have been told it will be endometriosis but that doing a lap can cause further risk so it wasn’t an option given. They are now wishing to start treatment with prostrap injections. Any advice?
I think deep down, when we go to Drs with ‘issues’ down there, that Drs often think ‘Endo’ and that is why they suggest the pill to regulate or periods, or lower the amount we bleed ect! Is that a bad thing? Probably not! Even if you got a lap diagnosis, either ablasion or excision, you will still have to try those medical treatments just in case it comes back!
My diagnosis was actually incidental! I ended up with sepsis, I was stuck on antibiotics, and my symptoms at this point was so severe, think peeing and pooing yourself, that surgery was warranted to see what was going on! Thankfully they did, I did have a large bowel obstruction caused by my Fallopian tube, BUT I did have symptoms of it!
Since that excision surgery, I have then had to manage on treatment, hormones, and I have, until I become a medical emergency again, with sepsis! Now again, awaiting surgery!
Surgery isn’t a cure! Having a diagnosis, isn’t a cure! Surgery comes with risks! I don’t know how bad your symptoms are, but if you feel capable of giving medication ago, without surgery, see how it works, then go for it! If it works, then jobs a good one! You have saved yourself from surgery right now, all the associated risks & recovery time!
Personally, if I didn’t keep becoming a medical emergency, I would chose medical treatment over surgery! Xx
