HiI tried the mirena coil a few years ago and after two weeks it was taken out. I bled constantly and couldn’t walk as the pain was horrendous. I’ve been told I have adenomyosis on top of having endo so I don’t know if that had anything to do with the pain. No one decided to look into it. I feel abandoned and left to suffer.

Hey

So when I had the coil put in I had loads of pain as I'm worse than my endo pain for 3 months. I also had a scan to check it was in place after it had been in for about a month due to the amount of pain I was experiencing.

But then it started to settle and now over a year later I get no pain, or pain that doesn't even need paracetamol maybe once every 2 months. So I'm really glad that I persevered with it.

But it doesn't settle for everyone.

Hi I have tried to mirena coil 4 times over the years and I get the same problem each time as though I am being stabbed in the top of my cervix area when I would normally have a period. It was great that it stopped the bleeding but that did 6 months each time in my case but that stabbing pain just wouldn’t do one so I had to have it removed each time. The longest I put up with it was a year. Also it didn’t stop my ovulation pain.

Mine took about six months to settle but the pain had definitely reduced in about two months. The first period after insertion was the worst. I know it doesn’t work for everyone but it’s been fantastic for me so I hope you can persevere and it is the same for you.
