Just wanted to ask your opinions on the zoladex injection. I have just been advised by my specialist to have them sooner than planned on the lead up to ivf treatment due to endometriomas but am worried about the potential side effects.
Hope to hear from some of you soon!

Hi lovely I’ve had 6 zoladex injections was glad I had them first 2 months was a bit rough looking back as I had headaches and night sweats but not horrendous sweats, I’ve been taking HRT since day 1 of injections.
My specialist didn’t mention anything about HRT. He basically recommended the injections to put me into temporary menopause leading up to ivf in hope it might shrink the endo down a bit 🙈/ to allow my body to collect eggs.
I’m happy to deal with small side effects just worried my hairs going to fall out etc. Iv kind of scare mongered myself.
I could be on them for a very short time but if the ivf can’t be persued due to the cysts and I need surgery I’m looking at a 6 month wait due to covid 💔 I’m already in so much pain!
Feeling so emotional and defeated by it all at the moment x
Hi Munch! I have also been on HRT from day one. I would 100% speak to the consultant or even just your GP to get HRT, it really helps make the side effects more manageable. I am 6 months into the injections and now using HRT oestrogen patch plus mirena coil and so far so good!
I really hope things improve for you soon and you can get your IVF 🙏🏻 xx
Zoladex is really good for taking the pain away but am afraid I have had quite a few side effects, heart palpitations, weight gain and pain in my joints and muscles so have decided to stop and grim and bear the pain whilst waiting for Laproscopy and removal of endo tissue.
It may work for you though, I found the side effects only occurred during the second lot of six months of taking it. The first six months I had no side effects.
