Zoladex/Prostrap Injections Advice

Hello, I have been advised this is my treatment as surgery is not an option. I have read many posts from women who have experienced this treatment (mostly all is horrendous) and I am petrified, to the point where I just don’t want to do it and want to leave treatment. Any advice please. 😞

I had 6 months of prostap, a six month gap (when endo and endometrioma grew again) then another 6 months of zoladex which shrunk things back down before surgery to remove cysts and ovary (had one ovary removed two years before). All I can say is that both times the injections did the trick of shrinking the endo. I have stage 4, but no symptoms currently. First round of prostap I had hrt (livial) second time I didn't. I'm 48 and was perimenopausal anyway. I had issues with hot flushes, but still worth it for me

I’m 19 and have just come off prostap. It worked very well for me once it finally kicked in. I didn’t take HRT as I never got menopause symptoms. I was originally meant to be on it for 6 months but due to silly gynaecologists was only on it for 3. And after 7 months since the injection I’m still not back to normal. It was the best treatment I’ve had out of the 5 different treatments I’ve been given.

Best of luck zxx

Hello, a few years ago I had 3 months Zoladex injections and didn't get on well with them until I had some hrt( side effects were hot flashes, weight gain, tiredness and feelings depressed) but they did offer some relief for a little while. This year I had 6 months injections of decapeptyl which I found I reacted a lot better to ( with just a little side effects the worst of it being tiredness) and no hrt. I experienced no or little pain while being on it. I hope you find something that helps. Good luck. X

Hi. I'm due to have my 4th injection next week, I'm not on hrt it's giving healing time after some major surgery in May. I was told the morning after my operation I needed this injection as I had been in a much worse mess than they were expecting, I didn't get time to google it and I'm pleased I didn't as like you I've found a lot of negative things about it but for me it's working, I'm not in any pain and other than the odd hot flush I've had no side effects so for me it's been a good experience . Hope it helps you to xxx

Thank you so much that’s very helpful advice 😁

Hi I'm 35 and just coming to the end of a yrs worth of prostrap. For major endo growth that has covered my womb bowel ovaries. Iv just had my pre op for hysterectomy and bowel resection due to the serverty of the endo growth. Regarding the prostrap it was a life saving regarding pains bleeding and endo symptoms. I was being hospitalised just for pain relief before I started it. Iv realised how bad my quality of life was before, Iv had endo diagnoses and symptoms from 21 but just 'got on' with it. My consultant told me I'll never be cured as such just swapping one set of symptoms and side effects to for another (surgery/medications) Just depends which ones you can cope with best. Hope this helps.
