Potential endo advice

Hi all!

I’m 24 and came off the mini pill and had the copper iud (non hormonal) fitted roughly 2.5yrs ago. I show symptoms of endo which I’ve been complaining about since coming off the pill and I FINALLY have had a referral to the gynaecologist! So I have unbelievably heavy periods, continuous lower back pain and tend to spot between periods along with occasionally bleeding after sex. When I’m due on around the week before I am extremely tired and my hip and thigh (always on the right hand side) feel like they’re being crushed like I have a tonne of bricks laid on it! I get really bad bloating too (I could pass for 3 months pregnant)! I had an internal exam about a year ago and the doctor told me I have a cervical ectropian, I’m not sure if that’s related at all? Although I’m chuffed someone is finally taking me more seriously I’m extremely anxious that the gynaecologist will come back with no results for me and that it’ll be a waste of time for me and the doctors. Has anyone got any advice on what an appointment will involve and has anyone gone in with suspected endo and come out with no answers and where did you go from there?

Hi

So I had my first Gynaecology appointment last year for suspected Endo. And all they did at the first appointment was take a detailed explanation why I was there, they ask loads of questions about pain/bleeding and things. He then did and internal and then they recommended a form of contraception. With Endo it’s very unlikely you’ll get a diagnosis at your first appointment. The only way to properly diagnose Endo is through a Laparoscopy. Unless your one of the lucky ones and it shows on an MRI.

Unfortunately though sometimes you do come out of your first appointment without many answers other then suspected Endo.

I’d say definitely write all your questions down before hand, right all your symptoms down. Keep a pain diary and then when you speak to Gynaecology ask if a Laparoscopy is something they would consider doing. Definitely push for answers and don’t let them make you feel like you don’t deserve answers.

Good luck ✨
