Cervical endometriosis

Hi everyone.

In January my once normal periods started getting longer and by March I was on two weeks off on for two. I went to the GP in March who prescribed tranexemic acid. In October I was having a particularly crampy period day and felt a terrible pain in my back. I came over all clammy, nauseous and almost fainted. This prompted me to go back to my GP who did an internal exam and noticed my cervix didn't look quite right. I was then referred for ultrasound scans and a colposcopy. The scans on my pelvis, urinary tract and TV were all clear although the TV scan was painful at times. They took biopsies during the colposcopy and explained that they thought it would be cin2 or cin3 changes and unlikely to be cancerous.

Results finally came back that it was neither and was in fact endometriosis!

I'm now awaiting a gynae follow up appointment. No idea if it's anywhere else, what they will suggest or how long it will take. From what I've read so far it is quite rare in the cervix. Does anyone have any experience of this or any advice for the newly diagnosed?

Thanks

Hi Sparkstar2,

I haven't got any experience of cervical endometriosis, but if you're looking for general information about endometriosis the Endometriosis UK website is a good place to start: endometriosis-uk.org/inform....

We also have a network of support services that are available for anybody affected by endometriosis. Our free helpline (0808 808 2227) is run by volunteers who have personal experience of endometriosis and is open most days – the times it is open can be found here: endometriosis-uk.org/suppor...

You may also find our support groups useful as a place where you can discuss endometriosis and the issues you are facing with other sufferers. Please visit: endometriosis-uk.org/suppor... to find out if there is one in your local area. Unfortunately, we can't meet face to face at the minute, but lots of groups are running online meetings and information sessions. These tend to be advertised through their facebook pages.

Take care xx
