Hi I’ve just started Utrogestan 100mg nightly, supposedly bedtime for nights 1-25 of cycle. Bedtime as it’s supposed to have a sedating effect ?? No chance - I’ve been awake since I took the first one 2 nights ago with the worst headache. I’m taking ibuprofen and paracetamol and can still feel it. Like a crushing feeling. I’m thinking it doesn’t agree with me and may need to stop. Has anyone else had the same? If so when will it go? Is it just your body getting used to it ? I’m not sure I can cope with any more days and nights like this. Many thanks for you help.

Utrogestan 100mg headaches since starting 2 days ago. Anyone else had the same problem and did it go away ?
Hi Vickymc, I haven't taken Utrogestan before, but I had a similar experience with another hormonal treatment - I had a headache for about two weeks, that went away as soon as I stopped taking the pills!
It might be worth speaking to your doctor as they may be able to prescribe something different - you shouldn't have to put up with such a bad headache!
I hope you feel better soon xx
Hi Pauline36. I have just seen your post. If you can't take Utrogestan orally, it is possible to take it vaginally, still in the evening, but instead of taking 2 tablets, you only insert one as it doesn't get damaged by the liver. Your headache could be a liver reaction. Utrogestan also contains soya. By taking it vaginally, it bypasses all these digestive issues and headaches, heavy heads. I react to a lot of medicine, but if I take them as a gel or otherwise, I am absolutely fine.
