Anyone struggled on Norethisterone

I've been taking Norethistrone for about a month. Getting bad side effects, such as swollen feet, I feel like I'm swelling, constantly bloated, headaches like migraines, struggling to go to the toilet for both, it just comes when you get the urge, even though I'm on buscopan and solifenacin for my bladder. I feel exhausted and out of breath!

Yes they did not agree with me at all I think I lasted 2 months (that was it) before I went back to my consultant to request to come off them, similar side effects to yourself, migraine headaches, sickness, fatigue, low mood, literally waking up in the morning and feeling as though someone had smacked me across the head! Might be worth speaking to your Dr and asking for an alternative, you have to find what works for you. They referred me for a laparoscopy and hysteroscopy after I asked to stop taking Norethisterone! Good luck hun x

Thank you LEH199

I got an appointment with my GP today, but can not get hold of my gynae consultant.

They recommended i go on to a mini pill. Which I have been on before. I just seem to be going round in circles. I just feel the are not listening.

It doesn't reduce the pelvic pains either.

Still waiting to see a specialist, which isn't happening.

Thank you again

I didn't tolerate it well at all. There are different options when it comes to progesterone (types and strengths), so it is definitely worth speaking to your GP or consultant (depending on who is monitoring the prescription) about alternatives.

In the end I didn't tolerate the lowest pill dose well, and I have reasons for declining a mirena coil (which is also a progesterone option), but in my discussions and research it really boils down to the individual. Many women seem to find a alternative form or reduced dose does help significantly.

I hope you find a solution that works for you. Ultimately if these options are not working for you, ask for another method of treatment. And if you are not heard, ask for a referral for a second opinion.

Good luck.

Hey

I didn’t get on with norethisterone at all I stopped bleeding for a 5 days then bled the whole time I had the course. I’ve tried it twice and the same thing happened both times. It didn’t seem to being doing what it was supposed to and I experienced a lot of symptoms; headaches, lightheadedness, nausea, fatigue, irritability, low mood.

The whole time I was on this tablet I couldn’t wait to get off it!

I have painful urination and bowel movements. I’ve been off the tablet for a week and still have this. Bring it up with your GP because they might want to investigate it. I have IBS and found buscopan didn’t really work. Try colpermin the peppermint tablet if you think that will help.

Speak to your GP I hope you’re okay!

Annie
