Hi everyone I'm new to here. I was to have a laparoscopy in March but due to the covid this was cancelled. I had a hospital appt recently via telephone... which basically I cried all the way through due to my anxieties. My consultant has arranged for an appointment to have the laparoscopy. What are your thoughts on having it done with everything that is going on at the moment. I'm feeling really anxious, the thought of going into hospital, thought of no one with me before go to sleep or when I wake, the thought of covid and infections. I just need my mind easing a bit. I obviously am in need of the op and been waiting a long time I'm just feeling really nervous

Hello, I was in the same position and had to go into hospital to be diagnosed. I spent 3 days and I felt really safe, the nurses told me there were no cases actually in hospital. All staff wear masks and every patient is tested every 4 days, they are cleaning non stop. The nurses make you feel really comfortable and everyone on your ward is in the same position. Try taking a photo with you of who comforts you and that way they will be with you or an item of clothing with their perfume/aftershave on as the smell will comfort you. You will be fine, dig deep you got this.
The most important thing is that it is done by someone with expertise (so some specialist training) in diagnosing endo and not a general gynaecologist with basic training.
Hey I had an emergency lap operation on Wednesday so didn’t get to take anything in with me! I can assure you there is nothing to worry about, nurses are amazing make you feel at ease. My anxiety is very much triggered with Covid/hospitals in general but keeping your mind busy is key. My partner the next day was able to drop off my Nintendo and iPad so that passed the time. You are so tired after surgery you spend most time sleeping anyway and suddenly you’re allowed home you can do it! You’re stronger than you think
