Second time round?

Hi all

Hoping for some advice.

In 2016-2017 I was suffering from horrific pains during my period and also ovulation. I was showing multiple symptoms of endometriosis and with every month it was getting worse (unable to move some days). My endo consultant was convinced I had it.

I had a lap in Oct 2017 and it returned a negative result, no endometriosis was found. However from that day, I didn’t experience any more pains or symptoms, to the point where I didn’t realised I’d started my first period after the procedure, whereas before I would have known a good couple of day’s in between. I mentioned this to the surgeon during my follow up and he said that it’s possible that there was a small amount of endo which he could have dislodged without realising. Since then my periods have been relatively regular and I’d barely given it a thought.

About a year ago, I started getting some pains during my period, but they were nothing like they were before so I didn’t want to moan. However the last 4 months they are getting worse. At the moment it’s only for a few hours on the day I come on, so again, not at the point I was before. But they are progressively getting worse, distracting my day and/or my sleep. By periods are now less regular too going from 3 weeks in recent months, to 32 days this time. The pain radiates through my lower abdomen, back, hips and down my thighs.

Has anyone had a negative result, been pain free for a while and then the pain has come back?

I cant decide at what point to go back to the doctors because I wouldn’t want to waste their time if the result came back negative again but I don’t want to end up in as much pain as I was before

Thanks in advance

Xx

That's an amazing story so pleased you have had some relief. Yes, Endo can grow back and my Gyna told me that ladies with "mild" Endo can get more pain than someone with "severe" Endo and that was many moons ago. Just a suggestion could you go back to your GP and perhaps ask for medication like Mefenamic acid which targets hormonal pain?

This med was my saviour but your GP will tell you if it's suitable for you

Good luck🍀

I'd say that if it's getting progressively worse and it's starting to disrupt life then it's not a waste of the doctors time at all. We all deserve to be seen and treated even if we've been seen before. It's their job and like Linley says, they may be able to prescribe some meds that help manage the pain.

I'm currently trying mefenamic acid too and though it's not taken the pain away, it's more manageable than it was before.

Thanks for your responses ladies!

I know previously going on the pill has always stopped/reduced the pain, but I also feel like that’s just masking a problem inside me! Nothing is simple, hey?!

I will go to the doctors to see what they say though!xx
