Adhesions everywhere!

Hi everyone,

So I finally got my MRI results back, and I’m not crazy! After 7 years of pain, they’ve finally found something.

Short list:

Uterus tipped forward

Cervix misplaced (pushed to side)

Multiple follicles on both ovaries

Both ovaries stuck to pelvic wall with adhesions

Recto vaginal adhesions (apparently all over- exact words were “bottom and vagina stuck together”)

I have so many questions but won’t get to speak to an endometriosis specialist consultant for a few weeks at least because of the long waiting list.

The person who gave my results over the phone said it all points to evidence of old endometriosis, but there was no active endometriosis found. She also said it may not be active because I have the mirena coil in at the moment which could be keeping it dormant.

Does anybody know what this means? I thought adhesions were endometriosis. Is it possible to have all these adhesions without endometriosis?

Anybody with experience or more knowledge than me, how was this treated for you and what did it mean diagnosis wise?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, feeling very scared at the moment!

I didn’t know old and active endo was a thing! I thought if it’s there then it can cause pain whatever the age of it?

I don’t have as many adhesions as you but I do have my ovaries stuck the the wall and a tilted uterus / womb. The endo specialist will be able to give you all the help and info you need, I have one and she is amazing, it’s made such a difference. I know there’s a wait but it will be worth it, save up all your questions as you think of them so you can go through them all on the call x

Hello.

I’m so pleased you are finally getting somewhere with your diagnosis- it’s a very long, drawn out process.

I have stage 4 endo and from my experience it rarely shows on mri scans, but the mri will show the damage it has caused and any deep implants.

Hopefully when your endometriosis specialist sees you he will clarify that and arrange a diagnostic laparoscopy.

Best wishes to you xxx

Active or dormant, it can still cause pain. If taken at face value, it might be encouraging because it means that the endo isn’t growing/spreading. However, it doesn’t address what you already have.

I’d get a second opinion.

Thank you everyone for your comments, it’s so nice to have the support and advice ❤️

I’ve been trying to find out when my appt will be with the endo specialist, but have just been told that they’re not open and aren’t booking appointments.

Also been told my chest MRI won’t be until October. Not got a clue what to do. I’m so worried about which organs are attached to which, as I’ve not fully been told yet. I have to go back to work in September and I don’t know how I’ll cope without treatment.
