Hi everyone,

Has anyone felt like their brains are not how they used to be before starting zoladex or is it only me? I feel so detatched from myself, I can never remember anything and its effecting my life and job :( I have stopped the zoladex now due to it causing ostepoporosis but I just wondered if your brain recovers or is it fried for life! It’s the most fustraiting thing, I sometimes even forget what I’m saying mid sentence... i’d love to hear your stories

Hi Holly12345, yes had exactly the same problem. I had to stop after 3rd injuction. At that time I was stadying and on my exam I couldn't remember anything I revised the night before. Also I found that the Zoledax injuctions made me to react slower forexample if I wanted to break on the red light, it would take a few seconds longer to react. I couldn't carry on with the injuctions and sttopped them halfway through the treatment. Feeling better but the pain has returned. 😥

Hello again Holly12345,

I suffered pretty bad memory problems on Prostap (another GnRH analogue). There is a UK doctor called Dr Michael Craig who has carried out research on the issue. If you google you can access summaries of his research articles like this one:

researchgate.net/publicatio...

His research only covers 6-month licensed treatment protocols or shorter, but the hope is that memory function recovers over time once GnRH treatments like Zoladex or Prostap end. It can take a while for things to improve after you stop the injections, but fingers crossed you’ll be feeling a bit more like your old self before too long, x X x

Thank you for the information and your reply! Interesting that this is never mentioned in the side effects! Xxx

Some of the manufacturer leaflets have a warning about “cognitive impairment”, but that’s a pretty vague term and not particularly helpful. Glad the info helped & all the best, x X x

Holly12345 how long were you on it for? I'm due to get on Zoladex this month for up to 3 months but I'm really worried about all the side effects I'm reading about.

Hey was on it for 3 years, everyones different but i haven’t had the best luck, my memory is getting better now but ive been left with osteoporosis, if they keep you on it long term, PUSH for a yearly bone scan, i was told i was meant to have one every year ( after 3 years of not having one) X
