Do I have endometriosis?

Hope this is ok to post.... I’ve had symptoms of endometriosis for about 8 years. Before that I had more mild symptoms for 4 years. I’ve been diagnosed with IBS so thought some Symptoms were from that.

At first The main issue I used to have was very painful ovulation. After my second baby it was worse so I was referred to a gynaecologist who Was very dismissive and just scanned me and said nothing there and to continue on my pill as it had just started to stop my periods. I stayed on pill for years with no periods and no issues but side effects were awful. I came off it and was ok for a couple of years.

Then started to get painful periods and ovulation again. Then started to try for baby number three. Took longer to conceive and had two miscarriages. Took aspirin third time and was successful. I stopped breastfeeding in March and my periods returned and it has been awful ever since.

Each month is worse then the previous one. I have painful ovulation and then the periods are heavy and agonising . It hurts to urinate, open my bowel even to sit on the toilet at the moment. Last night the pain woke me up and I thought I was going to pass out or throw up. I’m currently furloughed but if I wasn’t I would be missing work for sure.

I’m going to call drs tomorrow and I think my only option is ask to go back on the pill. I am only able to have the mini pill as I get visual migraines and I hate the side effects but it’s better then this pain.

Sorry for rambling 😂 my main question is does this sound severe enough to be endometriosis? As my pain isn’t constant.

Should I ask to be referred again? Or shall I just try the pill and see how I go.....

thank you

I’m the same re furlough.

When you speak to GP ask for a referral, look up consultants who have experience with Endometriosis and ask if they will specify.

So many different things, best to check.

Sounds very much like endometriosis. You can get worse after having a baby. I know I did.

If the pill actually works for you, then whatever works I'd say do it. However, you should really see someone with expertise because this is not normal. Ovulation pain is very common with endometriosis.

Hello👋🏻 so sorry to here you’re having a bad time. Definitely sounds like endo to me. I have it on my bowel and as a result suffer with ibs mostly during and after my period. When it started 10yrs ago I had a mirena coil fitted. It helped so much. Hope that helps. Xx

My endometriosis all started with painful ovulation just 2 days a month and has progressed over the last few years to painful periods and IBS symptoms. I think if you suspect endo you know your body better than anyone and you should absolutely feel empowered to push for better medical care! Maybe book some time in with a BSGE endo consultant for some proper advice? I did that a few months ago and I know that even in lockdown they are still doing phone consultations. That might help give you some answers.

All the best xx
