Got mine Monday, they called today with a cancellation. I’ll let you know how it went. They said no injection, thankfully.

It shows if there is any deep endo.

I have had many MRIs and they have never showed up my Endometriosis. My MRI and ultra sound results always come back clear of endo but on all 6 occasions when they have operated on me there is always loads more endo than before and it spreads further every time. Hope that helps you. Please don’t let your consultant fob you off if it’s clear. Push for more tests or better still, a laparoscopy.

She’s saying because I had one in feb they won’t do another even tho in feb was for ovarian cyst removal and was done by basic surgeons not even gynaecologists and the surgeon herself said ‘I didn’t go in looking for endo so I wouldn’t pick it up I’m not gynae’

It’s horrible isn’t...how they are so willing to leave us suffering. I got told the other day they won’t operate on me anymore in the future because i never get any relief from the pain after. So basically i just have to learn to live with it.

Yeah it’s ridiculous!! Like she’s saying her hands are tied... when no they’re not I haven’t had anything done yet which can indicate a diagnosis... and sorry to hear that’s it’s so frustrating

Need to win the lottery so we can go private lol. They at least owe you a diagnostic laparoscopy, you deserve answers. It’s mad isn’t it...its our bodies and us that have to cope with the pain yet we have no say in the care we receive x

Hi there, I had an MRI and it showed that I have endo. Definitely worth trying in case it shows something up.

Thankyou what’s the procedure?

Hiya, I first had a needle/tube put into my arm. Then went onto the mri bed - where they injected me with buscopan through the tube in my arm. This is so they can see your organs better in the mri. I then got some noise cancelling head phones to wear and given a button to hold in case I had any issues in the mri machine. They also put something on your waist - like a flat weight (can’t remember what this was for) I was then wheeled into the mri machine which is like a tunnel. As the scan was on my pelvis the top of my head stuck out the machine. The mri scanner is quite noisey and small but okay - I had a small nap in there! If you’re having an issue at any time you can press the button and they’ll wheel you out of the machine. I think i must have been in the machine for maybe 20 mins. The results showed my endometriosis quite clearly. Happy to answer any other questions if helpful. Good luck!

Hi there, I had my MRI ahead of surgery it showed them where my large areas of endo where and what was stuck to what! It really helped them avoid complications. I hope it's a positive experience for you 😊

Iv had a couple, I already knew I had endo from a lap but my surgeon monitors how deep the endo is getting on an mri.

I actually dozed in mine, you just lie on a long bed and it moves you into a tunnel- the tunnel isn’t tight and I felt relaxed. They put earphones on you and sometimes play music, there are loud sounds but nothing’s hurts at all x

Thnkyou ! I’m so nervous it coming back ‘normal’

I wouldn’t worry because my surgeon said the only true way to diagnose endo to a lap. The mri will just give them an idea. Try not to worry x

I had an MRI back in March which was meant to confirm a stage 4 endo diagnosis prior to urgent surgery. Well, still waiting on that surgery but apparently it did confirm the issue and also ruled out deep infiltration etc. I had the one with a contrast dye injection. Really not as bad as you might be imagining. I've since had a CAT scan and found that more intrusive...actually the transvaginal ultrasounds are pretty intrusive. The MRI is just a big warm tube and they usually put some music on for you.

Hi! MRIs tend to give a good picture but Endo can sometimes evade even them! I have Adenomyosis which was diagnosed via MRI and know many ladies whose deep disease was seen on MRI.

If nothing is seen on yours, don’t stop pushing for answers!

I also have adenomyosis so at least they’ll tell me from this how severe as was diagnosed via ultrasound and I definitely won’t Thankyou so much

Hi,

Agree with people above, it wont show normal lesions usually but will show deep infiltrating. An all clear doesn't mean there is no endo just no large nodules, endometriomas or deep endo.

It was used to categorise my DIE on bowel recently and they will use the imagine to guide them during surgery, how much of my bowel needs to be removed.

It also showed extent of my adenomyosis better than other scans.

As described to me "it's so sneaky sometimes". Sure is!!

The MRI is ok, someone above described it perfectly. They can hear you, you can talk to them if needed. They will play music, if you can just relax a little it will fly by. If you need contrast and buscopan it was fine for me too, deep breaths, and a nice treat afterwards then to reward yourself 😉
