I’ve been suffering with bowel endometriosis for many years now and had my bowel shaved in the past. I assume it’s gradually getting worse again but today (period day 3- the worst day!) I suddenly felt like I had diarrhoea, went to the toilet to check and noticed a load of thick white/ jelly discharge on my pad. It definitely came from my butt. This is a new symptom for me and wondering if anyone else has had it? ☹️ I have severe deep bowel endometriosis.
Many thanks,
Siobain

I get this & it’s awful. Really uncomfortable....especially when trumping! 😬 I find weirdly that paracetamol seems to calm it down but like you I’ve severe endo which effects my bowel. I also get tailbone/bum pain which is worse than my belly pain!
I get the exact same bum pain. It’s like a paperweight is in my butt. I only get it days 2 or 3 or period though, the rest of the month I don’t get it. I also get really bad bum pain when going for a poop on day 2 or 3. Such grim symptoms. Have you ever told a doctor about the mucas? It’s a new one for me so I haven’t mentioned it to them before. I’ve had my bowel shaved when I was 26 (4 years ago) but I’m not convinced they didn’t make it worse because now the endo has infiltrated my bowel and they’re saying I need a bowel resection. Hospital told me this about a year ago but really don’t want surgery again so I am putting it off until I feel like I really desperately can’t cope anymore. Have you had any surgeries? Xx
I'm so sorry that you are going through this. This is something new in my case as well. I do not have bowel endometriosis to the best of my knowledge but, I suddenly develop cramps that feel like diarrhea and see a lot of Tanisha/ light brown mucus. I keep having the urge to go...
I did some reading and read that it could be IBS or some type of irritation in the intestines. My nerves have not been the best and I notice that it flares up when I am stressed. The only thing that I do is drink pure aloe juice to heal any irritation and St. Johns Wort to settle my nerves. I am not a doctor.
Please see a GI specialist so that he/ she may evaluate your symptoms. You may even have a gluten intolerance...
I am keeping you in pRaye and sending hugs to you from across the miles. 💛💜💛
I am 64, and I have had issues all my life. Heavy periods with large blood clots. Rectal bleeding.Like you I have always had jelly like substance from my bowel. Hence, mucus. I had a hysterectomy at 28 years old due to severe endometriosis. Ovaries were not removed because of my age. However, I still have rectal bleeding. I have a rectal ulcer in my bowel. The lining of my bowel is so thin they cannot operate on my bowel as I could bleed to death. My stomach is full of polyps, but nothing has been done about it, as I have too many to have them removed. I have issues with food. If I went out for a meal I would be doubled up in pain within 30 minutes of eating, and then I would have horrendous diarreaha. I can only eat small amounts of food.I also have severe back problems. I was on morphine 25 years ago. I now have patches for my pain along with many other strong painkillers. I feel I have suffered most of my life with pain and bleeding issues.
I was wondering how you were getting on with the mucus issue?
I have had this myself for years on occasion and never thought much on it as it passes after a day or two.
I am now thinking that I could have Endometriosis on my bowel and perhaps this is a symptom.
I finished my period last week and have had mucus today. It is accompanied by the sensation of diarrhea and wind but on trying to go to the toilet all I produce is mucus.
I'm going to include this in my Endometriosis notes to help with my diagnosis but wondered if you had spoken to your doctor on the matter?
Sorry to hear that. The mucous I’ve had sounds very much the same as yours. I have not spoken to my doctor about it because they’ve already told me a couple of years ago I needed more surgery and I had a bad experience with the hospital and didn’t want the surgery they offered at the time after the bad experience and so I thought if I go back to them they’re just going to tell me the same! I pay to speak to a private women’s health lady/ dietician occasionally but am not due to speak to her for another few months yet. I will mention it to her and will let you know if she says anything about it.
I would say my endometriosis bowel symptoms are severe pain and uncomfortableness in the bum area on day 3 of period (especially when going to the toilet), occasional mucous now (very much the same as yours) and severe tiredness during period. The daily issues are more to do with toilet issues. Where the endo is in the bowel, it’s made the area in my bowel smaller and so I will go to toilet more than the average person because there is less space there now. This is helped by watching my diet as much as I can bare (I try buy organic, gluten free and eat a lot of fish and fruit and veg).
I would say that if you are experiencing some of these symptoms then you should go see your gp and get a referral to a endo specialist hospital. They’ll want to do an mri, ultra sound and laparoscopic surgery before they diagnose you so may take months to be diagnosed if you have it.
The endo uk website has a section on bowel endo as well for your info. Hope this helps.
