the pill, infection or endo symptom?

Hi everyone,

I've recently been put on a new pill but I've been experiencing some pain inside my vagina.. it starts at the very lowest point of my lower abdomen and sort of the very top part of my vagina and then I get sharp pain inside too. I also have itchiness. This morning and the morning before it started after I went for a wee. I also keep getting loads of discharge too. Sometimes it's clear, sometimes it's yellowish, it's not thick or anything. I had this a lot when I was on my old birth control (the patch) and a bit before I even started birth control at all. This has happened before with just discharge and itchiness no pain, I went to the doctors to give a urine sample and swab but everything came back as normal.

I just wondered if anyone knows if this is all part of endo or if it could be the pill causing the discharge and itchiness or a recurring infection? I have noticed that I get more discharge when I'm on a higher dose. The pill I take is triphasic so the hormone levels alternate each week.

With covid at the moment it's a bit difficult to explain this to the doctors and have be certain its an infection so I just wanted to ask on here before I ring :/

Hi Amywoodx,

Sorry to hear about your discomfort. The pill can cause all kinds of fluctuations in hormone levels and result in increased discharge. However if this is making you very uncomfortable it could be a sign of an infection (due to the itchiness). Even if this is not an infection, if you are uncomfortable you should speak to your GP to get it sorted.

Best wishes,
