Operation Cancelled, hard to cope

I know a lot of us are in the same boat. I was due to have my surgery on the 30th April for removal of my 10cm endo cyst from my right ovary, and it’s just been cancelled. I’m on second month of Decapeptyl, no pain but just endless hot and cold flushes. I have been waiting for this surgery for 6 months, and now it’s going to be another 3 months easy. I want to have kids, and I’m scared it’s going to get so big it bursts. It putting a massive strain on my relationship with my partner, I’m all over the place. I lost 4 months of work prior to this because of the pain, and now with everything else that’s happening, just finding it hard to cope.

Private hospitals arnt taking people for operations either. Does anyone know anywhere in the Uk that’s still doing keyhole surgeries? 💛

Hi I’m so sorry to hear you’re struggling at the moment. I’m in a similar boat was due to have a diagnostic lap in April but hadn’t yet received a date for the op, but now that’s going to obviously be pushed back. I ended up being bullied out of my last job because of the amount of absences I had due to the pain I was in, and ended up getting signed off by my DR for depression and anxiety so I completely understand. I don’t have any suggestions for surgery all I can say is hang on in there you’re not alone ❤️ I just wanted to reach out and let you know that...also for me hot baths and my wheat bag help massively. And not overdoing it...I go a walk every day but have been suffering a lot with fatigue so if I need an early night or a nap then that’s okay. I take codeine with ibropofen for the pain now as I’m taking my pill continuously so am not having periods, but was previously taking naproxen with mefanamic and transanamic acid when I was having periods xx

Hope you get sorted soon as well. Sorry you had such a tough time at work, you could contact ACAS, they aren’t allowed to do that.

I’ve got two wheat bags constantly being reheated, poor microwave!

I'm so sorry to hear you're struggling, and I'm in a similar boat. Diagnosed via MRI with bilateral endometriomas (one around 14cm, the other maybe 8-10cm). I was due to have surgery in March but it's been pushed back with no new date yet, probably for another couple of months. When my surgery was cancelled (the second time in one month!) I asked to be put on the continuous pill to hopefully prevent them growing larger while I wait.

Like you, I have found this has all seriously messed with my ability to work, sleep or even think clearly - and that is BEFORE also being in quarantine and my surgery being cancelled. This IS stressful, and you are within your rights to be scared and stressed. My family and friends have been very supportive, but as you know it is difficult to explain your fears, and it is also physically uncomfortable/painful.

I know how unfair all of this seems - and how scary. I likewise desperately want kids, and didn't even know I had endo until a few months ago when all this started, so it has been an emotional rollercoaster. Hold on and try to take care of yourself as much as you can until your operation. If you have an emergency (ie. sudden, excruciating pain) go to the A&E; but try and take it easy as much as you can.

As for private clinics - I really don't think anywhere is operating at the moment. They seem to be waiting for things to lessen significantly before they perform surgery again, due to the risks and diverting all resources to coronavirus. Stay strong and if you feel like venting, there are some lovely people on here.

I hade my surgery cancelled ,it was due on April 18 th with a private clinic .The government has got help from all private clinics to trackle the new strain of coronavirus .I know it's hard and I want kids 2 ,I got signed off sick from work due to stress also.I built myself up for the surgery then with one letter i felt lost .This suitation is unfair to everyone but all we can do sadly is just wait .

I was due an op sometime this year, I wasn’t given a date but it’s now on hold until next year due to Covid 19.

At the time I was upset but then thought there is nothing I can do. It’s frustrating. It tiring being in pain and not able to function like a normal person.

Try and look after yourself, eat properly, take your meds, rest up. Nothing else we can do at the moment.
