I have endometriosis, adenomyosis and oestrogen receptor positive breast cancer. Because of the endo my cancer treatment will include Zoladex which I need to get started on next week. I had a holiday to St Lucia planned at Easter (first big holiday in 10 years). The consultant says he can delay radiotherapy until after my holiday but I've heard that you get heavy bleeding for the first few weeks on Zoladex. If I have heavy bleeding I'll be doubled over in pain and the holiday won't be much fun. I could really do with the holiday as the last few months have been horrible but if it is going to be miserable because of effects of Zoladex I'd rather postpone it.
Any advice on the initial effects of Zoladex would be great!
Thanks,
Nat

There are a few factors to consider here, because everybody reacts differently to Zoladex and until you try it you won’t know which camp you fall into.
The other problem is that Zoladex needs time to settle in, so you could have a couple of months all over the place before you get to ‘your normal’.
It’s been a while since my last course, but looking back I don’t remember any heavy bleeding at the beginning at all. And it took away my pain pretty sharpish too.
This post hasn’t really been helpful at all, I’m so sorry! But unfortunately, you won’t know what’s going to happen until you try.
Good luck, whatever you decide, and lots of love. I hope you get your holiday x
Thanks for your reply Chrissie. It has been very helpful. I now know the heavy bleeding is certainly not guaranteed and it may well be that the side effects are either not immediate or not too extreme so (coronavirus permitting) I think I'm going to take my chances and go on my holiday. Thanks so much. X
