Hi there, does anyone with endo suffer badly with muscle guarding? I had a lap operation in Jan but outside of the endo pain my body is shattered and feels like it is clenching all the time particularly around my pelvis, but all Over really. I feel like this is what is tiring me out on a daily basis. Apparently after so much pain with endo and clenching during that pain, it can cause my body to become jarred in that clenched pattern constantly. Like an over-protective mode anticipating more pain to come.
I was diagnosed with ME/CFS 8 years ago and last year endo and I’m just wondering if this is the route of my fatigue perhaps - this clenching/muscle guarding.
And if anyone has found anything that may help it? I am off to a pain doc that deal with pelvic things next week, I just wonder if they’ll be able to help me stop the clenching and allow my body to get some rest.
Thank you

I have just bough an electric heat pad for night times - to hopefully encourage my muscles to relax. I am also considering looking into private physio and acupuncture. At this point I will try anything, I am four weeks out of surgery and the pain in my pelvis and down my legs is still as strong, which I think is down to my muscles contracting.
Yes! Apparently it's an over reaction of our 'fight or flight' response to threat. I've just started pelvic physio this week as my pelvic floor muscles are over tightened on the side I have endo and I have restricted movement of that side in my hip and leg. If you're not familiar with pelvic physio there are some helpful YouTube videos out there. Just be aware they do internal stuff but they are getting to the route of the problem as they can release the over tightened muscles.
I have this, I clench my muscles and find I can’t relax. When I asked my endo nurse she said pelvic floor dysfunction is quite common and not necessarily an endo symptom. She has never heard of anyone else complaining of it but I have it and it can’t be a coincidence that it’s worse when I’m on my period x
