I've had mine fitted this afternoon and my god I'm in agony! This is dreadful!
The GP has made me bleed and I mean a lot, they had to give me gauze and tissues to clean it up and pads to get me home without bleeding through my jeans.
Please tell me this wears off because its awful! π

I had mine in October, and was exactly the same. Took about a month for the extreme to wear off, and only in the past month have I stopped bleeding constantly (not a lot, enough to wear a pad but not enough to be considered heavy if you know what I mean?π ) and the pain is less frequent but had changed to a stabby kind pain instead of an achy pain if that makes sense π
Had a check up recently and my gynae said it takes about 6-9 months π So it's normal, but you should have a GP appointment to learn to check if it's dislodged/ teach you how to check it, so maybe ask them if it doesn't improve? I didn't have a check cause I forgot to book it, but again my gynae if it was going to happen it'd be within the first 6 weeks.
No idea if that's helpful or not, but know someone feels your pain!π
I had the Mirena in last year to help with my constant endo pain but I feel it made it so much worse. So much so that I could barely get of bed most days because it hurt to move. I wanted to give it the 6-9 month chance to work but when I went to my gynae, after about 3-4 months of having it in, he wanted to take it out right away because it had made things much worse for me.
Getting it in was horrendous too. Honestly have never felt pain like it & bled so much afterwards even though I also have the implant in & that keeps my periods away. So, I feel your pain.
Overall, my experience with the Mirena was so bad. Getting it out when I did was one of the best things that I did. Pain came back to its usual daily level about a week or so after it was removed.
So, I can't really tell you that the pain goes away, from my own experience. Hopefully it will work for you though.
Thank you both, it does help to know that some people experience the same, everything I had read up people were saying the fitting was uncomfortable but not agony and not the bleeding like I experienced.
I'll give it time and the pain isn't at the agony level this morning, it's like period pain this morning.
I've had my laparoscopy and hysteroscopy and having the mirena fitting was on a level with the gas pain! I'm normally pretty good with pain but that was horrendous.
Iβm sorry your is so much pain. My daughter had the Merena put in four months ago and she bled so much and was in agony for six weeks until it finally let up. Now she is 80% better , she had tried lupron shots and everything else with n relief. Hang in there Iβm sure it will get better. I know how bad the pain is the first couple of days. Maybe your Doctor can give you some pain meds. Also sit in a hot bath and use a heating pad. I hope you soon feel bette
