I’m 26 with no children, I was miss diagnosed under gynocology last year, they thought it was a tube but I had a 10x12cm hemorraghic cyst which was in my left ovary removed last August along with my ovary, my right ovary then flared up 3 weeks later & they drained 500ml of blood from it. Now it has started again at 6x5cm which will keep growing & I think they will probably remove this ovary too. I have asked to be referred to hull endometriosis clinic & was just wondering if anyone had any advice. I’m planning for the worst & just wondered how people cope with no kids, did you go into hrt? I kind of feel like there’s no purpose for me now but trying to find a slight positive!
Has anyone had endometrioma return & get ... - Endometriosis UK
Has anyone had endometrioma return & get the chance to freeze eggs before ovary removal? or if not how did you cope?
I had large bilateral endometrioma cysts removed Jan last year then tried IVF with the ovarian tissue that was remaining but it was unsuccessful and I was told it wasn't worth trying again. I've just had 2 more bilateral endometrioma cysts removed again Jan this year while I am on the waiting list for an egg donor. The surgery this year has removed 80% of my ovaries and so it looks like I'm now in permanent menopause, but this isn't so much of an issue as I am going to use an egg donor. Don't lose hope, even if you don't have your ovaries, you can still have children using an egg donor. Just get your name down quickly as the waiting lists can be very long.
Thats true I didn’t think about that option, thankyou. How do you feel going through the menopause?
I’ve been on zoladex for 7 of the last 12 months so getting used to going in and out of menopause but it is a lot more severe since my last op which is why my gynae thinks it may be permanent now. Bit of a shock at 34 but getting my head round it. Will find out for certain once I finish my current hormone treatment in 3 months time. The symptoms are hot flushes, especially night sweats and lack of concentration and some anxiety.
Have you asked if it would be possible to freeze your eggs now before further surgery?
I asked last year but my gyno said no, I’d have to pay privately because he thinks I’ll still be able to conceive & it won’t happen again, I don’t think he had much of a clue about endometriosis & offered no solutions after. It’s been a total mess really so thank god for me finding this group! I will ask again though I’ve been referred so hopefully I can get some answers & if it’s a possibility I’ll maybe do it privately if I can afford to.
I don't give up. I have had 4 laps to remove endometrioma. I would get them pretty as soon as ovulation started and they got pretty big, pretty quickly. In the end I underwent IVF with a 7cmx4Cm cyst. Not advisable but we had no choice really. I was lucky enough to produce hood quality eggs which fertilised and are now little embryos in a freezer. I was 29 at the time.
We were successful after our second IVF transfer though we did 4 cycles in total. I was put on a progesterone only pill which helped stopped the cyst but made me crazy. Now on mirena which isn't ideal but also helps stop the cyst.
Try to stay positive
