Hi everyone

I had my first prostrap injection 4th Feb as I was told I have Adenomyosis and endo after my mri results showed, I didn’t get much information about the prostrap is it normal to bleed through it I already had my period when I had the injection and started to bleed again! My specialist is saying I will need a hysterectomy but wants me to be on prostrap first?! Has anyone else had Adenomyosis and endo before? What’s people’s experiences?

It’s your choice if you have a hysterectomy it won’t cure endo and please know that prostap will only minimise it slightly for surgery I’ve heard people say it can go one of two ways worse or better or worse then better I declined prostap as hormones have never agreed with me the pill made me bleed for months so I wasn’t going to put that in my body I believe some people bleed in first few months x

Hi, I was on Prostap for 9 months and during that time I did experience some random spotting especially at first. It was fantastic to get relief from my symptoms. I took Prostap right up until my hysterectomy (LAVH and BSO) in December 2019. I also had adenomyosis and have stage 2 endometriosis. I’m now in surgical menopause but my symptoms are mild at the moment. Taking Prostap before the operation helps to prepare you body for this I think. I didn’t need add back HRT on Prostap either. I’m not currently taking any HRT but I’m seeing my specialist soon so I’ll discuss it with him then. I’m not sure if I need HRT and I don’t want to flare up the endo but I’m only 42 years old so it might be advised because of my age to help protect bones and heart.

I’m glad I had surgery, I would rather have the menopause than suffer with the symptoms I had before.

I hope you get on ok with Prostap and I wish you all the very best for any future treatment. X

I have the as you Heart1987 endo and Adenomyosis. I'm currently on Prostap, certain pains have returned.

One the ladies on here suggested to take vitamins.

I do seem to get lots of side effects, which I'm currently off work for.

I haven't been given alot ofinfo from the gyne consultant and still waiting to be referred to a specialist.

I was thinking of having hysterectomy, but reading some of the comments I don't actually know what will be the best option now.

I suppose everybody is different, I hope you get the support and advice you need from your consultant.

Hi agree with afrohair , prostrap didn’t agree with me at all sent me into a medical induced menopause which is awful!!! I have had a complete hysterectomy 5 weeks ago for other reasons and it’s the best thing I’ve ever done wasn’t saying that 5 weeks ago but now I’m recovering the pain has lifted and I can start to begin to enjoy life again !!! I’m currently on hrt which I do feel I need as the menopausal symptoms for me are very bleak suffering badly , I do know that not everyone suffers badly with these symptoms unfortunately I’m not one of them

Good luck with your decision

😊

Hi, I also have adenomyosis and endometriosis. I had a merina fitted in March last year. I want a hysterectomy and have an appointment 24th to get a 2nd opinion. If this is offered I would take it. My womb is so heavy and often think it smells like a butchers shop were everything is so raw. My ovaries ache all the time. I would be interested to know how u get on. 😊
