Seeing a consultant for the first time

I have been going to the doctors for a while whilst struggling with endometriosis symptoms. I was referred to the hospital a while ago due to there being an issue with my smear test results, I had a scan which showed a couple of cysts but was told my local hospital didn't treat endometriosis as it will return, it was described as 'cleaning a dirty floor, it will just get dirty again.' I gave up after that but continued to have symptoms, the doctor has referred me back to the hospital and I have an appointment next week after waiting 4 months for it. Can anyone advise what will happen at this appointment? Will they examine me (currently on period) what do I need to say in order for them to listen to me. I'm very good at knowing what to say then as soon as I'm there I'm blank and when I leave I have a list of things I should have mentioned!
