Hi,
A subtotal hysterectomy (leaving one ovary behind) has been recommended - I've already had a bi-lateral salpinectomy in 2018 - as I am experiencing very low pelvic pain most mornings and also painful intercourse which can often be accompanied by bleeding.
I'm 41 years old - relatively fit and healthy. My endo certainly isn't as horrific as some ladies seem to have it and I'm grateful for that. But I do have lots of the symptoms and am trying to slow this down as much as possible before it completely takes a hold of my life. I am currently taking the pill every day as I have never had a pregnancy and was advised at the bilateral salpinectomy that my periods and the endo would be much much worse unless I took the pill daily. Even taking it daily I still bleed a little every two-three weeks.
I certainly feel like I'm "cheating" by considering the hysterectomy when I'm not suffering as much as lots of other women, but it is still affecting my life. I'm quite a strong person and it takes a lot to get me down but last Saturday my mood was so low for no apparent reason that I cried at the thought of doing a small amount of filing in my partners home office. I work as a secretary - filing is an every day thing in my life!
I suppose my main concern is that I will have the operation and still have the pelvic pain, painful intercourse, low mood etc.
Has anyone that has had a hysterectomy felt better afterwards? Was it worth it?
Thanks for reading xxx
