I have my laparoscopy in a week for diagnosis of endometriosis - the best way to describe how I feel is that I am “full” but in my pelvic area not my stomach. Obviously my lap might help this feeling but I am really looking into changing my diet to see if I get some relief from constantly feeling bloated and bunged up! I basically feel like I need a food detox and to cleanse my body.
Are there any foods I should avoid if I have endometriosis that affects other people? Open to any suggestions!!

Hi! I wish you the best with your lap. The most important dietary recommendations to refrain from eating in the Endo diet are inflammatory foods. Gluten is the first thing that should come off your list. Lactose free, sugar free, meat free, (only eat chicken and eggs that are organic, the hormone-feed poultry is the worst because of the estrogen). You can also replace your cosmetic products and hygiene products for organic, they also have synthetic hormones. Take processed foods off your list, anything that has artificial ingredients.
The Endo diet was particularly helpful for me for the bowel prep before the Lap. I also did not have any diggestive issues afterwards, I am convinced it is because my body was so clean. Although I had been on this diet for many many months beforehand, 1 week will certainly be better than nothing.
You need to leave out inflammatory foods - red meat, dairy, sugar, gluten, soy, fried foods, coffee, processed foods. Some good advice here: endo-resolved.com/diet.html
Hi, nobody can tell you which diet might help you but it's worth trying them all out step by step with luck you'll find one that helps you.
Gluten turned out to be my personal devil. It only took me three days on gluten free diet and I started to feel the difference. After a week my digestion was back to normal. I got my period and the pain was and still is bearable as long as I stick strictly to my diet. In my case gluten triggers the endo pain even outside of my period. I also avoid alcohol, because it has only negative effects on my health.
It is not good for your health both physically and mentally to cut out alot of food groups all at once. This is not just a change in diet, its a completely different way of eating, shopping and eating out for LIFE! Therefore one suggested way as previously, is to do one food group at a time. One of the reasons being is that you can also catch out any quirks specifically to you. So for example go gluten free and then once you are use to it and has made notes, then you can try another food group.
