Steps to pregnancy

Hi everyone

Has anyone on here struggled in the first six months to get pregnant, if so, do I see my gp first or go straight to my gynaecologist.

I’m due to see the gynaecologist surgeon in a months time and wondered what they can do to help? Do they give you pills to help or is surgery the only option?

Thanks in advance for your help

Hey- it really depends on what the issue is, generally with endo they will refer you to a fertility clinic and take it from there. Have u had a lap already? It took me 2.5 yrs to conceive and am now trying again but been 2yrs again.... just waiting!

Hi, yeah I had a lap last year to diagnose me and they said my womb etc looked fine but with endo I guess you never know do you! Fingers crossed it happens for you soon x

So my consultant told me generally the first year after lap is good for conceiving and if not then fertility clinic for ivf- I did try ivf last time and it didn’t work so this time Im trying to be more relaxed about it

I’m learning it’s easy to get stressed about it, I was a week late and never late and convinced I was pregnant ... but wasn’t. It sounds like it’s best for me to chat to my consultant in the next few weeks then.... thank you

When I struggled to get pregnant the first year the doctors found out because I had endometriosis thier first suggestion is to take pills for few months to sort it out

It depends. They might do an ultrasound to check for cysts, tell you to do an MRI, discuss surgery or birth control depending on what comes up with these tests.

I have recently seen a post by a famous endo surgeon where a patient underwent thorough excision with him after being told by her previous gynaecologist she only had 50% chance of conceiving via IVF. She conceived naturally 2 or 3 months after excision and her pregnancy was progressing well.

What I want to say with this story is not to worry and always seek an excellent surgeon if you need to undergo surgery and want to optimize your chances of conceiving
