Hi everyone, im currently in London and would like to know where I can find the best excision surgeon, any recommendations? Thanks.
Excission surgeons : Hi everyone, im... - Endometriosis UK
Excission surgeons
Have a look on Nancy’s nook on fb, they have a list of specialists xx
Look on the BSGE website which lists the specialist endometriosis centres across England and the advanced surgeons accredited and qualified to work in them. You can Google the names of those in your area and see where else they practice.
Please could I ask why you are recommending this surgeon if you haven't had surgery by him as the only way to judge is by based on own experience.
Hi, I would say check the bsge centre site and put your postcode in, it will give your nearest endo centre.I had mine done by Homerton hospital. On aug 2019, since been endo free, recovery within 2 weeks. Better than the previous hospital I was under gynae specialist and they were not assuring nor were they able to eliminate the amount of hospital admission I had with them 9 in total and still no sign of me being called for surgery. It was the best decision I made to discharge myself from the gynae specialist and go to a endo centre. Good luck.
Oh my goodness this is so worrying. I am founder admin of what is becoming a very prominent UK endo support and guidance group and we have many excellent excision surgeons in the UK.
Your quote 'As you know you UK doctors just want to put you on drugs that make it worse and do ablation instead of excision surgery' is very worrying also, and I absolutely don't know that as you suggest I do. Many general gynaecologists might put women on medical treatment inappropriately but our many tertiary excision surgeons apply thorough excision as they are required to do when appropriate by NHS England in their treatment specification. The quote sounds like it has been directly taken from the 'N' group you mention which is a most unreliable group for UK women.
Your statement 'it’s the Nook surgeons in America who are way more advanced on this awful disease' is terrifying if you include the UK ones in this. The list of surgeons is chosen by a random women from the South of England who has displayed no knowledge of our UK system whatsoever or the vast array of excellent surgeons we have - her choice is based on nothing more than whether or not she had heard of them and it seems she hasn't heard of most of our excellent surgeons. It is a rule of the group that no other surgeons can be mentioned. They allow a handful of surgeons to promote themselves against GMC and BMA regulations, and delete any negative feedback to give a very false picture of surgeons available in the UK.
You will be aware that profiles on doctors' websites are written by themselves. I would be very wary of anyone who claims of themselves to be 'one of the UK's most experienced and effective laparoscopic surgeons' compared with their colleagues with the same level of training and perhaps better results. The reason the name you mention appears so much is that one of his patients took on the role of relentlessly promoting him on all the endo groups until we had to put a stop to it on the one I run. Obviously names can't be mentioned but members of my group are having appalling results and poor treatment by some surgeons on that list. You really should be aware that women's lives can be affected forever by what is posted on here, especially when it comes to hearsay about surgeons who have not treated you personally and who are subject to the relentless publicity machine that operates on that group.
When I first started on here back in 2015 I too was hood-winked by it all and mentioned some names off that list to members on here and worry terribly now that it might have resulted in women's lives being changed for the worst.
Thank you all for responding, your comments are much appreciated.
