Hello Jltdance,

Sorry to hear that you feeling so out of sorts at the moment. Anxiety and depression are known side effects of gnrh analogues (the class of drugs prescribed to induce a chemical menopause to treat endometriosis).

An add back dose of HRT is prescribed to help minimise various of the unpleasant side effects of a chemical menopause (including anxiety and depression), but the is no one size fits all and different women find different brands of HRT suit them better than others. Similarly some women find they need more or less add back HRT than others.

Have you spoken to your GP and your prescribing specialist about how you are feeling? Significant mood changes are flagged up on the safety protocols for all chemical menopause medications that the manufacturers of those drugs provide.

Which particular medication are you on? You can look the manufacturer’s published Summary of Product Characteristics up on a website called medicines.org.uk if you know the exact name.

You are not going crazy, gnrh analogues do not control pain for every patient and they are known to cause severe mood changes for some patients too. Please do get in touch with your GP and your prescribing specialist asap as they should be closely monitoring your mood and providing you with adequate support, especially if you experienced mood changes when previously prescribed the same medication before.

Hi, I'm also taking the Injections, I've suffered really bad anxiety. It's difficult to know what to do, body doesn't know whether it's coming or going have u spoken to gyne consultant and doctor, I started taking Hrt patches few weeks ago taking time to kick in there has been some improvements to anxiety very slow. Do u have any other symptoms? They should be providing more support. Hope u get some answers soon, it's awful I know.
