I am nearly 33 years old and have suffered stage 4 endo for 14 years. Iv had seven laparoscopies and three treatments of zolodex.

In January I will be having a full hysterectomy in January along with bowel surgery. The said I may have a stoma fitted because of the extent of the endo on the bowel. Has anyone else experienced this?

I am going in on 2nd jan for complex surgery. Mine also is in my bowels and around the outside and I have deep rectovaginal endometriosis and possibly in my bladder too. Aswell as all the usual places. I am terrified because they said I may need a stoma bag too. I will let you know once I've had mine hun.

I wont have a hysterectomy yet because I'm 27 and it's a huge decision and not mentally prepared for it. Mine is also stage 4 severe endometriosis.

The pain is unbearable.

I wish you all the luck xx

Hi

I have stage 4 rectovaginal endo and had an excision surgery last September and ended up with a temporary ileostomy. I only had the ileostomy for 7 weeks as I fought hard to have it reversed as soon as possible so it wasn’t too bad and the operation was definitely worth it so please try not to worry as it is only temporary.

Good thing is you can eat what you want and not put on any weight but you are restricted to a low fibre diet and quite beige food which is the opposite to my normal diet.

Best of luck with the op and I’m here if you have any questions. It will be worth it in the end and I’m glad I did it. Xx

Hi Lisa. I’m 11 weeks post op after excision of rectovaginal endometriosis and had to have a low anterior resection as there was a nodule the size of a plum in my rectum. I have an ileostomy as the anastamosis needs to heal. It’s not ideal by any means, but it’s manageable and not forever. I’m hopefully having a reversal soon, I hope that your surgery went well.
