This might be a silly question but progesterone keeps popping up in my mind is it effective if you have endo to keep a pregnancy I don’t have a fertility doctor at the minute but just keep thinking if anything could have been done to prevent my misscarrige I got to 12.5 week I was so close to seeing the gender of my baby and just really want to know what this does I have children already so I don’t think I’d get any support on the nhs

Well, progesterone is only administered during pregnancy if there is a deficiency or are at risk of a deficiency. Also miscarriages can happen for other reasons other than progesterone deficiency such as thyroid issues, genetic defects, anatomic alterations, drugs or infections and many other causes.

I suggest you discuss any doubts and ask all questions during your next OB/GYN visit with a physician.

If your endometriosis is not severe (less than stage 4), then it's not a risky pregnancy, but please do ask all the questions to the gynaecologist or endo specialist as we don't know your whole clinical history.

I don’t no the stage but think it’s severe as now it’s affecting my bowls I’ve gone through everything and I haven’t got any answers my baby looked fine when I gave birth no deformaties etc she just died and I have no answers she was perfectly formed

Sorry for your miscarriage heartbreaking.

When I had a chemical pregnancy I begged my doctor to prescribe progesterone pessaries who was reluctant but I pushed & eventually she agreed to run it past my fertility doctor his assistant poo pooed it but my fertility doctor reviews on a case by case basis & agreed I could take progesterone pessaries until I was 12 weeks pregnant, as I said I lost that pregnancy but did go on to conceive my daughter after my third lap & took the progesterone pessaries from my positive test.

Some will say it makes no difference but I felt it was worth a go. Plus I read that endo ladies can have lower levels of progesterone.

Everyone has the right to be to be referred to a specialist for at least initial investigations. I agree you will not be eligible for nhs funded ivf if you have children but you might have other options ie clomid which can boost ovulation( I took clomid after my last lap ) who knows what made the difference was it all the endo being cleared, the low dose aspirin I took, the extra progesterone& prednisone ( for raised nk cells) I took earlier or clomid. Maybe it was just luck. ?

I would definitely get a referral from your GP to a fertility clinic & keep trying maybe with the pressure off it may happen ( I had resigned myself to about to have private ivf as i felt af peace with it then it happened!)

Good luck xxx
