Hey! Just seen my consultant again as I have started to get bladder symptoms and back, hip and leg pains (had stage 1 endo removed 18months ago). He has suggested I start taking cerazette to try help with the symptoms. I have always been reluctant to try any hormone treatment due to a bad experience with IVF. I have been reading up and I am worried about the increased risk of breast cancer with this drug and also possible side affect of depression as I am already feeling emotionally very fragile. Could anyone give me a bit of advice? I don't know what to do... I don't want to continue as I am but I also don't really want to take any hormone treatment!
Please help! - Im feeling lost.... Ceraze... - Endometriosis UK
Please help! - Im feeling lost.... Cerazette or not....
I totally feel your pain, cerazette was hellish for me but every time I go back to the doctors with any new symptom, they only tell me to go back on some sort of hormone. I guess it's about whichever is the lesser or two evils, you can at least try the hormones and stop them immediately if they're not good for you (as opposed to like the coil or the implant which you can't stop immediately), but most doctors recommend at least 3-6 months for something to work (I stuck to Cerazette 9 months which was 9 months too long in my opinion lmao)
What was the negatives of taking cerazette for you?
Constant headache like a buzzing in my head, my mood was crazy up and down, I had constant pelvic pain from running it together to delay periods, every cold turned into sinusitis, my hair fell out in clumps and I got a gum infection every month. Also the hunger was unreal, I've never been so hungry it hurt but I honestly would have ate anything to make it stop!
Sounds awful. It's weird how we all react differently. Some people really get on with it. My manager takes it and said the only side effect she gets is acne. What is it you take now?
Yeah I know a load of people who really got on with Cerazette, a good indicator for me was my sister as we've both had pretty much the same reactions to the things we've tried so I knew from the start it probably wouldn't help. I'm not on anything now, was told after a negative lap that I didn't have endo, told my doctor I was coming off the pill and they were like 'we don't advise that', so I told them if I didn't have it, why not? And they basically said they still thought I had it. But it's a risk I'm glad I took as I've had nearly 2 years feeling entirely like myself now and letting my hormones return to normal after 4 years of messing with them. It's been good for my phsyical and mental health but now as the pains are starting to return I'm having to go back to the GP to see what they can do x
I had an average experience with cerazette. No mood related symptoms or any other bad side effects. Unfortunately this brand, for some reason, has just allowed my body to bleed constantly, which wasn't happening on my previous pill so I've now changed. It's impossible to tell until you try. Like Kate said, you can stop them as soon as you think they're not working for you, but they might really help. Good luck with whatever you decide!
Thanks! I guess I won't know until I try and they will work differently for different people.
