Hi, its my first time posting as I only recently discovered the page, i'm so glad I did!
Anyway...I had a laparoscopy in 2012 and had Endo confirmed (much to my relief after 8 yrs with no answers). Time has passed, I moved 500miles, had a baby and now my daughter is 2, my endo has slowly returned. I am in the process of being referred to a specialist Endo Centre in Glasgow so I requested my medical records form my previous hospital in 2012.
They have sent me my records and it states 4 sites of endo removed, scar tissue found and also 2 large cysts on my ovaries (one of which burst in surgery). They also state a further cyst was spotted in follow up Ultrasounds which disappeared itself after 8 weeks. There is no mention of which "stage" they consider it to be and I wondered why that might, or if anybody knows how you can identify which "stage" your endo may be?

I'll be following your thread closely as I have also been treated recently for ovarian endometrioma on one ovary and endometriosis adhesions to sigmoid colon. both ovaries were adhered to either pelvic side wall and ovarian fossa and minimal endometriosis in pouch of douglas and there was no mention of what stage i was. I'd be interested to know too.
Hello so the stages are dependant on where you endo was found. And also if they refer to it as deep infiltrating or not. Sometimes it can be referred to as 'minimal, mild, moderate or severe' instead of the numbering system.
If there's no reference, some surgeons wrongly think they don't need to give a stage but in the UK especially its important as it can define the treatment pathway etc.
From what you have described based on my non medical knowledge just research for my own journey I would say stage 4 but you would need that confirming. But it does say stage 4 sites.
Mine was described to me as moderate which is stage 3 and is defined by having scarring or adhesions.
Stage 4 is cysts and deep infiltrating endo tissue.
