Has anyone paid for an initial consultation privately then asked for treatment / surgery on the NHS.

I can't even believe I am writing this because it goes against everything I stand for with regards to private health care.

However I am really struggling at the mo. My pain is literally unbearable and I believe that another laparoscopy is the only option.

My G.P should have referred me last week but this wasn't carried out. I rang the hospital yesterday who told me the consultants next appointment is mid December but these are booking fast and if my G.P doesn't book it soon I will be looking at next year.

I am currently off work for a mixture of reasons however the main issues are my mental health being low and my constant pain and lack of sleep adding to that. So I cannot continue to be off work for very long so I was thinking if I pay for an initial appointment as soon as and then ask to be seen on the NHS for the surgery... if the consultant will do the surgery that is.

Any information / advice welcomed.

Thank you

I did this and I’m so glad I did. My other gyno said I had endo with chocolate cysts kissing ovaries and said I will be fine I can either have surgery where she might need to remove my ovaries or go on the pill. So I went on the pill started trying ttc and pain was so bad I paid private to see and endo specialist and he said I need to have the surgery as I have 10% of conceiving with how bad it is inside and told me you don’t remove the ovaries only if it is cancerous. How different to gynos are. I’ve been waiting 4 months to see him again in the nhs and I’m seeing him on the 5th. It’s been dry emotional and I’m struggling to cope with all the confusion just by examining me he said it’s stage 3 or 4.
