Hi. Last week I had my second laparoscopy and endo removal. (My first was nine years ago). I'm not sure how bad my endo was and how extensive the removal was as I havent spoken to my gynae yet. On my hospital discharge notes it says I need a three month course of zoladex before my next review with the gynae. Has anyone had any history of taking this. Have looked into it and I am concerned about the side effects. I also have adenomyosis. Would zoladex help with this aswell as the endo.

No just at my local hospital. I don't have a specialist endo centre near me.
I did wonder if it was right. I've read that it is normally given before surgery. My discharge notes just said endo was found and ablated. I've always found the gynaecologists within my area aren't very forthcoming with info. I shall ask my Gp as that is who is meant to prescribe it to me.
I was given Zoladex before my first op, supposedly to shrink the endometriosis tissue, but I don't know how effective it was at doing that. I wasn't prescribed anything before my second op, just four months later, so don't know why I had to have the injections at all. They didn't completely stop my period during my four month course - I still had very light bleeding, but it did help with the pain.
Given the risks and side effects, I'm surprised they want you to have a three month course of it after your surgery. I hope you'll be able to speak to your surgeon to find out why. For me, they suggested the pill or mirena coil after the op.
