Hi I was diagnosed with PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome) around 4/5 years ago, Heavy Bleeding, Clotting, irregular bleeding/periods, severe bleeding/clotting after intercourse, pain and discomfort, trying to concieve for 5years with nothing I have a 8 and 7 year old....etc the list goes on, weight is 13st 5 and GP advised me to take Orlistat, which helped with my weight a little, I have now been speaking to people on forums etc and they have mentioned endometriosis and to see a GP about this, I was just wondering if any one else has pcos and endometriosis together or have in the past been told pcos but later found out it was endometriosis? Any help would be great please!

I could not fall pregnant so went down the IVF pathway. As part of my medical workup with the IVF clinic, I was quickly formally diagnosed with the Endo disease, level 4.
I had two operations, the first in 2008 to remove infected tissue from my ovaries that were glued to my intestinal tract. This was to assist with my infertility issues. I fell pregnant with my son shortly after the op with IVF treatment.
I had a second op in 2012 to remove more endo from my bowel and pelvic floor ligaments before falling pregnant a second time.
I have 2 boys already, i found out I had pcos around a year after my second child, after such a hard pregnancy, I have been past from doctor to gynecologist and still no where! I suffer so bad with periods I have had a period fof the last 4 month on and off mainly on, I thought I had stopped last night and me and my partner had intercourse but I've woken through the night in terrible pain and bleeding and clotting, this has happened on numerous occasions, I just dont no what I am to do I am so down and depressed at the moment.
I have had exactly that, I was told I had pcos but I don't, I have endometriosis. It was only because I got a new gp, mentioned it and he queried it as he used to be a gynae that I found out! How was your pcos diagnosed? Do you have pain? Pcos does not cause pain whereas endo does. I'd suggest reading the Period Repair Manual by Lara Briden, I think you'll find it incredibly helpful.
I was diagnosed through internal scan, I'm in pain nearly every minute of the day, my current period has lasted 4 months already on and off, with spotting while off, with clotting also. I've heard alot of people asking GPS for a laparoscopy? Is this true
Did they check your hormone levels as well when you were diagnosed? There are a few different diagnosis standards for pcos but a scan alone will only tell you that you have polycystic ovaries (many of us do!), it won't confirm that you have PCOS. The laparoscopy is the only way to confirm a diagnosis of endometriosis; you need to be referred to a gynae. You can choose who you are referred to, so if there's a BSGE centre near you, I would ask to be referred there.
