Period on plane

Hi all,

Hope you’re all doing well.

I have an Endometrioma on my left ovary (last scan showed it was 2.5cm- got another scan in two weeks)

I’m due my period now- but I’m about to go holiday and I’m so worried that I’m going to be in so much pain! The first period I had (when the Endometrioma was discovered) a couple of months ago was agony which is why I went to the doctor. I ended up fainting from pain. However I have had a completely normal period since and been ok. I’m just so worried this period is going to be bad and I’m gunna be on a plane and it’s just going to be horrific.

I suffer terrible anxiety- but I’m so sick of worrying about how each period might turn out 😭 (sorry to moan)

Has anyone had experience travelling with their period/endometriosis?

I’m currently on holiday and started my period the day I flew, I had pain a couple of days before so I knew it was coming. I find overthinking it makes it worse, just make sure you have your pain killers and anything else that helps you with pain. And for the first couple of nights I avoided a lot of alcohol as that always brings my pain out. The plane ride might be uncomfortable but I would recommend when possible to walk up and down the aisle it helped take my mind off it a bit. Hope you have a great holiday xx

Thank you so much for your reply! You’re right, overthinking it definitely makes it worse- every single slight twinge I have, I start freaking!

Main thing for me, other than pain relief, if just knowing that the toilets on aeroplanes generally stock sanitary items if you need them. They're usually in a part of the wall marked amenities.

I didn't know this existed until the last flight i was on and had to speak to the air hostess cos of a bad bleed.

Just a nice thing to know to take a weight off of your mind about not bringing enough supplies in your carry on bag.
