Gynaecologist appointment advice please

Hi everyone,

I’ve had pain on the left side of my pelvis for months, and recently it has started to radiate through to my back. I’ve also had extremely heavy and prolonged bleeding for years. I’m constantly anemic too. I’ve finally been referred to a gynaecologist who said it may be endometriosis. I’ve had ultrasounds (normal) and have been taking mefemic acid tablets and others to stop bleeding and pain. They were helping.

Then last week, I ended up in A&E because the pain became excruciating. I wasn’t on my period. It felt as though something very wrong was happening. It started on the Tuesday evening, waves of incredible pain, much worse than the constant pain I’ve been having. It felt like someone had a belt tight around my waist and was pushing everything inside down. The usual tablets didn’t touch it. My thighs also felt achy and under pressure. I felt sick and also had diarrhoea, as I often do. The A&E doctor was concerned and did a CAT scan to rule out ovarian torsion, but when that was clear sent me away with different painkillers.

I have an appointment with the gynaecologist next Thursday and would like to push for something to actually be done as I can’t live with this pain. I can’t enjoy life with the pain and bleeding like I’ve been having. Does anyone have any advice on what to say and how to push for them to actually do something? A D and C has been mentioned. Do these symptoms sound like what other people get?

Thank you very much, and apologies for the long post.
