Finally pregnant!

So after trying for three years after being diagnosed with Endo my husband and I finally got a positive result on a pregnancy test last week!

So I'm roughly 6.5 weeks (very early I know) but the idea of being pregnant without the Endo being treated beforehand is making me slightly nervous as my GP has said it is classified as high risk.

Would love to hear any success stories if anyone has any?! I'm waiting to hear back to be assigned to a midwife so hoping I might get an early scan?!

Thanks in advance!

I had stage 4 endo was it an 8cm cyst on my right ovary as well as endo on my bowel etc when I conceived. I had no issues or pain during my pregnancy, I had a normal labour as well and nor was I considered at high risk due to endo either. It can be different for everyone tho, hope it all goes well for you and congratulations xx

Congratulations! I was lucky to have fallen pregnant twice and two healthy little girls who are currently making lots of noise in my house already. I have had Endo since my teens, five laps, ovaries were stuck to my bowels, scarring on my bladder, zolofex injections at some point, gall bladder removed because of increased hormones due to zolodex, tube not working.... u get the picture. A bit messy in there. Sending u lots of luck and best wishes.

Congratulations! We’ve been trying 2.5 years, had 3 IVF retrieval’s and transfers and still no BFP. Having a lap next month so your story gives me hope. I’m 36 so time is running out. Do you mind me asking how old you are? All the best with your pregnancy. Just shows that it can happen even if it takes a while xx

Not at all! Im 28, almost 29. Where they found my Endo they were pretty adamant I would struggle to get pregnant but I found I stopped concentrating on it because they'd given me the date for my surgery and I was just focusing on that instead.

We're both very shocked that it's happened and I'm trying not to be too wary and just enjoy it but it just sticks in the back of my mind!

Wishing you all the luck for your journey xx

Thanks hun, AF arrived for me today. Another month of disappointment. Wishing you a very happy and healthy 9 months ahead. Enjoy every minute and try not to let endo steal any more precious moments in your journey than it already has 👶🏻❤️ Xx

The success stories I can tell you about are of women who had excision surgery and got pregnant a few months after. What do you mean by endo not treated? That you didn't have full excision surgery so you have cysts, nodules or adhesions that could compromise the pregnancy? Well, it depends on the severity of the endometriosis and where it is located first of all.

Maybe contact an excision specialist to know EXACTLY if the situation could potentially be dangerous or not. No one else can really tell you how things actually are because they haven't seen many endo cases like specialists have. Please contact me if you need any names.

In the meantime, I would suggest you get your thyroid, iron and vitamin D levels checked out because women with endo tend to have issues with the thyroid or not enough iron or vitamin D so you want to make sure your levels are high to make sure your baby thrives (and obviously take folate - 400 micrograms per day).

I had surgery last year where the Endo was removed by diathermy. Due to this it returned 3 months later and I have been waiting for a lap to excise the tissue but after being finally given a date I've found that im pregnant.

I have recto-vaginal endometriosis and a lot of adhesions on my bowel with my bowel and uterus also being attached. Adhesions in the pouch of Douglas and on the uterosacral ligament.

I just wanted to see if people had had similar stories and gone on to have successful pregnancies. Thanks 😊

Hello Stefania - I am interested in what you have written, do you have any suggested names of specialists? I have 'severe' endo, have had an excision and was told post-op that I have adhesions attaching my rectum / uterus / pouch of douglas. I'm concerned that my prenatal care at hospital no-one is really monitoring me, particularly with covid everything is over the phone except for the 2 scans. Thank you

Congratulations!! Endo for 20+ years, 8 diathermy ops & 1 excision but inbetween had ivf & conceived first little boy then fell naturally with our second son. I was deemed high risk but all they did was keep an eye on me, which is what you want anyway. During labour with our second son they were going to transfer me to a high dependency unit but I refused as I knew he would be born any moment (& he was!) Don't worry yourself, enjoy your pregnancy and mostly listen to your body & trust your instincts - if you’re worried about anything then see your Dr.

FingersXssed83 I was 34 with my first & 36 with the second, good luck to you both x

Thanks for sharing! How many cycles and transfers did it take you to get your IVF baby and what stage endo have you got? Just can’t believe it’s going to happen for me. I can’t stay stuck like this any longer so starting to explore surrogacy as an option. I’ve heard of many people getting a BFP easily after their first, wonder why that is? x

FingersXssed83 we had ICSI I don’t know if this has a higher success rate than IVF? I’ve never been given a ‘stage’ but was referred to a BSGE specialist who was surprised that he had over 4 hours of excision to do. Bowel needed shaving, ovaries adhered to womb wall etc. But this is the stage that I’m at now (still in pain daily despite excision surgery) not where I was at when I conceived the first time. We’d tried for a baby for about 2 years & I think I had 2 ops over those 2 years (about 4 prior) fell after the 2nd but still had pain throughout pregnancy & had to have another op when my son was 6 months old. Surrogacy may be the way to go, it’s all such a personal decision and so emotive, as you well know. I had acupuncture which helped with the stress (& maybe helped with the conception too, who knows!) The second was a little miracle too. On the op at 6 months I was supposed to have a coil fitted to help with the endo but they accidentally cut my womb so couldn’t fit it. Within the year I was pregnant. Bodies are strange, don’t give up on yours! Good luck lovely x

Wow! Thanks for sharing your story and giving me hope! They found a blocked tube and stage 2 endo during my lap 2 weeks ago (all superficial but it was everywhere!). Meeting my IVF consultant next week, looking forward to having a plan in place. Thanks for the wishes ❤️ xx
