Help with getting diagnosis

Hi,

I'm not even sure if I'm in the right place but I'm becoming increasingly desperate to find out why I'm in pain so much in my pelvic region. I'm sure I have endometriosis but both laparoscopy and mri clear.

My periods started when I was about 12 and were always extremely painful and heavy. I had my first child in 2004 aged 26 and my 2nd in 2016 aged 38. My periods were always erratic and long (2 weeks) and sometimes I'd finish bleeding then start a few days later.

When younger I was given mefenamic acid which I remember flushing down the toilet in a hormonal rage as didn't help me at all. Doctor kept telling me once I had a baby they would settle. Had my son on 2004 and guess what.... they didn't settle! GP this time told me "you've just had a baby, what do you expect!" Anyway eventually got diagnosed with PCOS in about 2006 but periods still awful. Managed to tolerate the pill (really out of desperation) for a couple of years. When I met my husband and decided it was time for a child I had an early miscarriage but then took 5 years to conceive and we eventually had a daughter in 2016.

After she was born periods were even heavier and I was soaking through the largest tampon in the space of an hour. I was given transexamic acid to help with the bleeding. It didn't really help and end of last year I had an ablation which was successful.

However, summer last year I bled after sex and had the most awful pelvic pain which lasted about 1 month. I thought it was my cervix as was extremely tender in there. Went to docs who did an internal and saw that I was bleeding from cervix, was diagnosed with a cervical ectropion and was referred back to the same gynae I was under for fertility problems. I mentioned my recurring pelvic pain to her so as time of ablation and cauterising of my cervix she did a laparoscopy also which was clear.

My pain continues every month about 10-12 days after my now very light period. Gynae is at a loss, says not endo or adenomyosis as lap and then mri were clear.

I'm desperate for some answers, I've been in horrific pain since sat and can get no relief from it. Pain is a sharp stabbing right above pubic bone and hurts when I walk and when I sit and also feel a pressure/pulling pain.

Sorry for long winded post but just thought as much info as possible would be helpful.

Anyone else had anything similar with clear mri Ns laparoscopy?

I also have b12 deficiency, hypothyroidism & low ferritin (which I've just recently found out has always just been in range since before my son was born)

Thanks in advance

I don't really know, but since all your tests were negative, maybe It could be a neuropathic pain. There are plenty of nerves in that area, like the pudendo nerve, which is very painful. Besides, being B12 deficient is a risk factor for neuropathic pain. I would start taking an iron and B vitamin supplement while you go to the doctor and find out about the possible neuropathy.

Good luck!

Thank you. I'm already on b12 injections and iron tablets which seem to have helped with my other neurological symptoms.

Was just wondering really how often things are missed on mri and laparoscopy.

The last time I saw her she mentioned zoladex but I know there are a lot of side effects relating to them. I'm due to see a different gynae next month so hopefully he will be able to give me some answers.

Idon't know about zoladex because I've never been able to take any hormonal treatment. You could also go to a phisiotherapist, specialized in pelvic floor. Sometimes they can help a lot..
