I had my lap a week ago and to cut a long story short it’s been a complete disaster!!
My surgery did not go as planned! To me it seems like I was to much hard work for them. The doctor said after my op they need to put me on the injection to bring on menopause because my endo is so severe and then they would bring me back in 3 months and do another op.
When I was discharged the doctors who discharged me had no clue about anything and the injection had not been prescribed so they could not do it.
So I rang the hospital today to ask if they could send the prescription I need to my doctor but because it had not been put on my notes it could not be! Then the secretary said oh I see they have you down for a follow up appointment in 2 months, I don’t no why they have said that it will be more like 10 months!!!!! 10months!! I was like sorry 10months for a follow up after an operation her reply oh you will get a phone call in August!!
I’m completely and utterly lost for words!!
Sorry about the long post thanks to anyone who has read it all.

Did you get an MRI prior to the lap? This would have given them a better idea of how much surgery they needed to do before actually starting the surgery.
Ask (insist) your GP to refer you to an endo specialist. You can find them at BSGE.org/centre . Some of those are private, some are NHS (the website will have NHS in it). Some of the surgeons themselves have a private practice and an NHS one (you need to look up each hospital in the area and find which surgeons they share). So you can get a private consultation that costs about £200 - £300 usually within a couple of weeks then get put on to the NHS list for surgery.
This angers me. Things don’t improve. I first went to a&e 10 years ago when I didn’t know I had endo. Had huge ovary cysts I couldn’t walk and they tried to send me home it was only because a nurse saw me in tears they rang the hospital who said I had to have an emergency operation (hm!) After the op I was told nothing other than I’d have a follow up in six weeks. I went, the doctor wasn’t even there and I was told to come back two months later. I said No, I need to know what’s going on so another doctor got my operation record and it was completely empty!! Hm. I then went private. The consultant said there couldn’t be anything wrong because a surgeon known to her had done the op but I insisted and when she did it she found the endo was still there. Absolutely diabolical. Sorry for my own rant I just get so annoyed it’s still going on my niece is constantly in a&e or hospital with fibroids and they just keep sending her home with no follow up. I do though, understand the reasons for the injections it’s quite common to do that before an op to try to reduce the endo. Go to your GP and demand some action and a proper referral. One thing this condition has taught me is you have to take your health into your own hands and demand action(hard when you’re so ill) doctors aren’t sitting around thinking about individual patients you have to keep on for something to happen. Not how it should be but that’s how it is. I hope you get some answers. x
I think this happens more often then anyone would imagine. Is it possible to go to your family doctor and dump it in their hands to fix? They are likely the ones who made the initial referral and are ultimately responsible for your care. As a patient trying to work it out with the poor receptionists, it can be a labor intensive and fruitless. You will drive yourself mad. I speak from experience. Good luck.
