Hi everyone. I have just seen my gynaecologist in a follow up. In March I had surgery to separate my uterus from my abdomen and to treat endometriosis. I still had significant pain in my right side so was referred to a gastroenterologist who did and MRI and then a (very painful) colonoscopy. The gynaecologist suspected endometriosis was in the bowel causing inflammation as she saw that the bowel was raised up. The MRI and colonoscopy didn’t throw up anything and now the thought is that there is an adhesion on the bowel twisting it out of shape and causing the pain along with IBS. She’s referred me to a pain clinic. Has anyone else been to a pain clinic for bowel pain? I’m not convinced!

Nerve block
Hi, I have been under specialist pain team for a while now and they have been so good at being able to understand the pain side of things, manage different medications that help my symptoms and I am booked for a nerve block in July. My case is a little different though as I had endometriosis in my abdominal wall and muscles which had to be removed so I have chronic pain every day which is most likely neuropathic which is why the nerve block is a good plan for me as it works be resetting the nerves after trauma and helps them stop registering pain from the trauma of surgery. I can let you know how it goes after it is done. I too have been referred to a gastro consultant and awaiting the appt due to ongoing abdominal distension since my surgery, I’m not sure what they can do or will find but I’m just going with the flow on that.
I don’t know if the pain team can help you but they have been really good with me and have also been able to write reports that can articulate pain and the impact of pain on daily functioning better than any other consultant I have seen!
Good luck xx
