Hello, I’ve seen my consultant for a few times now and discusses the next procedure a hysterectomy however now he has decided it’s partly IBS ! Why ! I’ve tried all the diets before to cross off this assumption. Has any one had this issue?

Why do consultants put symptoms down to IBS !!!
Hi,
I’m afraid it comes down to the fact that some people aren’t very knowledgeable on endo. I had a massive bleed 5 years ago and because my CT scan was clear they said it must be down to fact they changed my pill. After 5 years of feeling I was going mad knowing things aren’t right with my body I got a diagnosis last year 🙈 I have been told that some endo Symptoms are similar to Ibs so I do feel endo needs to be more aware of. Sorry I can’t give u the answers u need but just wanted you to know I understand x
Thank you 🙏
My GP sent me to gastro for a flexible sigmoid to get a look inside as I have bowel symptoms. The gastro dismissed these and said that I have IBS but then admitted that IBS didn’t match all of my symptoms.
Me and my partner have been laughing about this since as he has more ibs symptoms than I do!!
But that did then mean that when the gynaecologist started questioning ibs in my appointment I could tell her what had previously been said and that I had tried two different medications for ibs which didn’t work.
It was frustrating at the time but then a relief that when I told the gynaecologist that they didn’t work she then stopped questioning ibs straight away!
The medications I tried were buscopan and mebeveran (Colofac. Perhaps you could try these and if they work then great, if not then you can feed that back and hopefully the information can be useful to your doctor.
Please excuse any bad typos. I’m typing while walking to work in the cold!
Thank you for the information. I change my whole diet as requested by my consultant before my lap surgery last year to see if it’s ibs and no change, so I was shocked me mentioned it again, I’m offended by his remarks to be honest.
I was initially sent for colonoscopy etc before seeing a gynae. When I had my first laparascopy the consultant was really rude beforehand saying he very much doubted he would find anything... And yes... He found endometriosis! In fact I had my appendix out too.... Wonder if that was actually endometriosis?!!! Some similar symptoms for both but when you keep a pain diary it's clear as day. Would always recommend it. Hope you get there eventually. Best wishes.
